Principle Message
Dear CompSci Families,
It was a short and mixed up week, that's for sure. We had the day off, then the snow day and then the delay. Additionally, it is the last week of the 1st semester, so kids are bust finishing up work. It's been hectic, but we made it happen! As you can see in our Equity Corner, we did activities this week around the National Day of Racial Healing. It was powerful for the kids to do the activity and discuss differences with one another. This activity was a good kick off for next week's CREC wide Racial Justice Awareness Week. We will spend all week working on various activities with the students around social justice. This is a great experience for our students and they learn a lot. This will happen each morning, and then we will resume our regular classes at 9:30. I'll send updates next week about what we did!

Greetings Comp Sci Families!
This week we celebrated the National Day of Racial Healing by doing an activity called “Cross the Line If.” The aim of this activity was to get students on teams together to bond over our common experiences as people of Comp Sci, and celebrate our differences. Students left with an understanding that their peers have more in common with them than not.

· Internet Safety Training – On behalf of the US Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut and the Department of Children and Families
Tweens and Teens spend many hours per day online chatting and interacting with friends and people who they may not know well and who may put them at risk. To educate parents, teachers and others, the US Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut, in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families, is offering - FREE OF CHARGE - online Internet Safety Training. This training will introduce parents, teachers and others to Internet and cell phone applications and video game systems being used by the tweens/teens that could potentially put them at risk. Training will take place on Thursday, January 25th, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. We encourage all districts to share this information with their teaching staff, as well as parents. A link to access the training is included in the attached one-page flyer.

BELL SCHEDULE FOR SY 2022-23
Students’ bell times is as follows: 7:20am -1:55pm (Full Day) and 7:20am – 10:45am (Half Day)
Picking up your child early
When picking up a student early from school, a note is required and should be given to the front desk Security Guard.
Parents/Guardians are to provide ID for verification when signing out any student. Anyone other than the parent/guardian
Who is asked to pick up a student must have the parent’s written permission; that individual is required to be in our
Emergency contact or be named in the note provided by parent—and will also need an ID.
Address Change Reporting
Help us keep our records current by reporting any changes to your child’s demographic information. Please complete the Address Change Form and bring in the necessary information to complete this process. Complete and return to Mrs. Rivera
In Guidance with any changes to your address and/or phone number. By doing this you will assist in jump starting your child’s bus stop change needs.

2022-2023 Transportation Reimbursement
Transportation Reimbursement is allotted for Families who reside outside of the CREC Transportation District & do not utilize CREC transportation in any way. Both criteria must be met to receive mileage reimbursement.
Lost & Found
Bins can be found in the 1st and 3rd floor offices, guidance and in the gymnasium. Bins are emptied the last Friday of the month.
Student lunch accounts
During SY 2023-24, through the Community Eligibility Commission (CEP), ALL students attending Comp-Sci will receive free meals.
**You will also need your child’s lunch identification number. If you need help locating your child’s number, please contact us.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Annual Notice and Form
FERPA affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to educational records.
Schools are asked to download and review the notices and Directory Information Word documents below, populate the required school-specific fields then message the notice and form home to families as an electronic PDF or paper copy in English and Spanish by Friday, December 22.
It is a federal requirement to send this information to families annually.
Parents should return completed forms to schools only if they request that the school obtain prior written consent before any "Directory Information" is disclosed or released about their child. (These forms are also on our website, here.)
