FastBridge Learning
Beginning this week, Kellogg students will participate in FastBridge math and reading screening assessments. These are quick, 20-30 minute screenings of current math and reading progress. The FastBridge replaces NWEA at Kellogg.
We will use the information generated from this screening to determine where extra student support may be needed and to help measure the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction. Students will participate in these screeners as part of their regular English, Non-Fiction, Resource or Math classes.
- Week of Jan 11 - aRead Screener
- Week of Jan 25 - aMath Screener

Mental Health Minute
It’s that time of year again that many of us sit down to write a new year’s resolution goal. 2020
definitely had its challenges but your counseling/social work team at Kellogg are all looking
forward to 2021.
Wondering how you can set age-appropriate resolutions as a family for a healthier and happier year ahead?
USE SMART GOALS! (your student might already knows how to write one)
- S pecific: List exactly what you want to achieve (instead of "running faster" think "run a 5k in under 30 minutes").
- M easurable: How will you keep track of your goal and determine whether you've been successful?
- A chievable: Your goals don't have to be easy, but they need to be possible. Do you have the means and ability to make your dream a reality?
- R elevant: Does this goal serve your greater focus and purpose in life?
- T ime-bound: Give yourself a deadline. Aim to reach milestones by certain dates.
Here are a few ideas for your student and family!
- We will eat at least one fruit and one vegetable every day.
- I will limit video games or television to one to two hours per day.
- I won't check social media notifications after I go to bed for the night.
- We will share a meal (whether it's dinner or breakfast) together four days of the week.
- We won't use cell phones at the table.
