Monteith Mini Messenger
March Edition
From the Principal
March is one of our favorite months of the year because it is a true celebration of reading! We kicked off the month with our Book Fair that was a great success with the help of all our wonderful parent volunteers. PTO & the Book Fair committee hosted our Milk & Bookies event Thursday that had a wonderful turnout.
We continue the reading fun with Our One Book One School : Ralph S. Mouse trivia and events. PTO is also helping prompt reading with our Monteith Read- A -Thon (please make sure to turn in to the office every Friday). As of today we have over $1,000!
The second marking period ended on Tuesday, March 5. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, March 14th. Our Monteith Tigers continue to grow and learn each day. Please keep in mind that report cards and conferences are only a snapshot of your learner's progress. I look forward to our continued collaboration with your family. Please let me know how I can support you and your children at Monteith. If you haven't signed up for conferences please follow the link P/T Conference Sign up
Also please don't forget The Helping Hands Green Team has started Waste-Free Wednesdays during lunch for the rest of the year! We're trying to be as earth-friendly as possible.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Keelean

One Book One School: Ralph S. Mouse
A calendar was sent home and it is also posted on the Monteith website. Please feel free to read along as a family at home and discuss the story. This will allow your child to answer the trivia questions at school the following day and earn chances to be entered into a raffle at the conclusion of the book.
Thanks to the Monteith PTO for their help with the project, the Monteith Student Council for packing things up and delivering books to each classroom and everyone that continues to collect box tops! This is another great example of things that are possible when you take the time to clip those box tops:)
We can't wait to have some fun and read about the adventures of Ralph S Mouse and his mighty motorcycle.

Small Group Math Support
Hello,
My name is Julia Ruggirello and I am the resource room teacher at Monteith and I am looking for your support! My purpose behind this email is to seek volunteers for a new pilot program we are trying at Monteith Elementary. This program would provide an extension to our differentiated small groups that currently take place in the classroom for math interventions. At Monteith, we believe it is critical that at a young age we are giving students opportunities to progress at their own speed with the right supports in place. The program that we are looking to pilot is utilizing parents to offer additional support for math instruction for small groups of learners. The time commitment involved would be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30. It is not necessary for you to commit to both days. Materials, schedules, and scripted math lessons would be provided making this a seamless opportunity for many parents to be involved. Even if you do not have a child in kindergarten, first, or second grade please feel free to submit the google form if you are interested. If this is something that you would enjoy and be able to commit to, please fill out the google form that would allow you to pick your availability and provide further details. I plan to reach out to parents who are interested and have filled out the survey by the prior to spring break. Thank you for your interest and support!
