Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,
Student Led Conferences (SLC)
You will have booked your appointment by now and accessed your child’s report on Gateway. As a reminder you will need about 45 minutes to view all your child’s learning. I’m sure you will enjoy the opportunity to interact with your child in their school setting. The children will want you to see their specialist areas too by visiting PE in the hall, Music in the music room, Chinese in the Chinese room and they will probably want to take you to the library too so you can see the great selection of books that they love to read.
Here are a few more details regarding time frames to make this learning journey easier for your family to plan.
Thursday appointments
All learning areas will open at 3.30pm and will close around 7pm.
Staff will take a tea break from 5-5.30pm. You are welcome to go into the classrooms to look around at this time however the Music, PE, Chinese rooms and the Library will be closed at this time.
If your child is attending in the evening there is no need to wear school uniform.
If your child has their SLC on Thursday, they do not attend school on Friday.
Friday appointments
All learning areas will open at 8.30am for those having SLC on this day.
Staff will take a tea break from 10.30-11.00 and a lunch break from 1.00-1.45pm. You are welcome to go into the classrooms to look around at this time however the Music, PE, Chinese rooms and the Library will be closed at this time.
Specialist areas (Chinese, PE, Music and Library will close at 3pm). Please visit these areas beforehand if you have a later appointment.
Classrooms will close after the last appointment around 3.15pm.
Students do not have to wear school uniforms on this day.
Parking on Hornsey Road
We have noticed a significant difference already - thank you for not parking your car along the footpath, this makes a big difference to safety and access before and after school.
We look forward to seeing you all at school over the next couple of days. As always please feel free to share your feedback regarding the SLC process so that we can continue to improve.
Kind regards
Brenda

Glenealy Top Tech Tip
Spotlight on Snapchat.
Kids love Snapchat because they love talking to their friends. Snapchat is a spontaneous and creative way to communicate with unique features that are just plain fun—Snapchatters can send images and short videos called “Snaps” that can be drawn on or modified with tools like Filters, Stickers and Lenses.
The minimum age to use Snapchat is 13, in compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Parents should make sure privacy settings are set to “My Friends” only. Remind your child that they should speak to a trusted adult when they see something that concerns them.

Family Bingo Night – Tuesday 21st March
Family Bingo night is coming! The PTA will host a family Bingo Night in the Centre on Tuesday, 21st March from 5:00-7:00 p.m. (first call at 5:30 p.m.). Ticket information will be in next week’s Newsletter – watch this space for details.
We are looking for volunteers to help at the event. Please contact Erika at pta@glenealy.net
School Discos – Thank you!
We had a fantastic response to the school Discos with nearly all students taking up the offer to dance under the new disco lights in the Centre. The Year 6 Prefects and Mr. Sommerville did a great job coordinating the music and activities. Thanks to our parent volunteers on both days and thanks to everyone for your support, as we raised over $22,000 for future school projects.
