Hoover Elementary School News
May 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are in the home stretch of the 2022-2023 school year. Not sure how that happened but as the saying goes, "Time flies when you are having fun!" This month we have quite a few exciting things happening. Last week we held our Annual Hoover Career Vehicle Day (see some photos below). A huge thank you to our volunteers that came out to support our special day.
This week is "Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week" and there are quite a few things planned for our staff, thanks in part to the PTO. Tomorrow (5/10) we have designated "Students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students". Students are invited to dress like their teachers tomorrow! The rest of the week there are treats and surprises for all staff to enjoy. Students are also encouraged to make a card for their teacher at some point this week as well.
Mrs. Bitting is still out and will most likely be out for the remainder of the school year. You may recognize/know a familiar Camp Hill face, Dori Pinku, who is filling in for Mrs. Bitting while she is away. I ask that you continue to follow our school procedures by communicating any absences, dismissal changes, questions, etc. by calling the main office line. There will be others filling in from time to time so it's important that you call rather than email/text this information. In addition, please remember to turn in a note within 3 days of returning from an absence, unless you have already received prior educational trip approval. Thank you!
Please take a moment to read through our school newsletter to see the exciting things that are happening this month at Hoover!
Thank you,
Mrs. Czarnecki
Exciting events happening this month!
Hoover Fun Day
Hoover Fun Day is scheduled for this Friday. Students will be participating in a variety of fun events outside. Please make sure you dress your child for the weather and have them wear their sneakers! Sunblock may be applied before school too. We will not be able to assist with applying sunblock.
Field trips
Our 2nd graders visited Hershey Gardens last week and had fantastic weather. Our 1st graders will be heading to Lake Tobias tomorrow for a fun day while our Kindergarten students will be visiting various local destinations for their walking field trip on Thursday.
Kindergarten Celebration
The Class of 2035 will be recognized for completing their first year of school in Kindergarten on Wednesday, May 31 at 6:30 PM at Sutliff Auditorium (Camp Hill HS). Specific details will be sent out from your child's kindergarten teacher.
EOY Class Parties
Grade-level teams will be holding end-of-year class parties during the last few days of school. Teachers will be sending information out to their classes regarding party information and volunteers. As with previous parties, there will be a limit on the number of volunteers for each class. All volunteers must have valid clearances on file at the CHSD Administration Office.
2023-2024 Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration Day was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. However, it's not too late to register your child for kindergarten.
Online pre-registration is available; click here to access the form. If you have a child who will be five years of age by September 1, 2023, and will be attending Kindergarten in the 2023-2024 school year, pre-registration is required.
If you know of a neighbor or friend with a Kindergarten-aged child; please share this information with them. For questions concerning pre-registration, please call Amanda Counsellor, at (717) 901-2400, ext. 5939.

What’s Happening in Guidance: As the end of the year approaches, our calendars are FULL of fun activities and special events. These changes in our usual school routine, although super fun, can be stressful for some kiddos. Our Guidance lessons for the remainder of the year will be focused on mindfulness and continuing to show our Lion PRIDE! We’ve got this!
Interesting Article of the Month: Gearing up for the summer juggling act of work, play, and/or filling all those hours of “free time”? Check out this month’s article with some tips on making the most of your Summer while keeping your (and your child’s) sanity!
K-5 Lion PRIDE
Lion PRIDE in our Community
We have recently partnered with Roberto's Pizza and the Fredricksen Library to help us recognize students showing Lion PRIDE in the community. If your child is recognized and rewarded for Lion PRIDE while visiting one of these two (or BOTH!) establishments they may receive a special Lion PRIDE ticket which should be returned to their teacher for an additional reward at school!
Lion PRIDE Clothing Store
The Lion PRIDE Clothing Store is still open! If you haven't placed an order, take a look at some of the options available for kids and adults!

We still have car magnets available! See the links below to order! All proceeds will go back to the K-5 PBIS Student Store!
Lion PRIDE School Store
Thank you for the donations you’ve sent in for our Roar Store! Your children have enjoyed shopping for incentives with the paw prints they have earned when they have shown Lion PRIDE.
