Pray for Nate Bracelets Give Back
Middle School students, staff, and families have shown their support for 7th grade student, Nathan Van Engen, by purchasing Pray for Nate bracelets. Nathan returned to school in late October after a successful surgery to treat a rare, aggressive cancer. We are all celebrating Nate being cancer free, and the Student Council was excited to give all the proceeds to Nate's family from the bracelet sales. The bracelets were donated by the Identity Group, which allowed our student council to provide Nate's family all the money they earned right before Thanksgiving to help with costs his family has incurred.
Thank you Iris Coffee, Leighton State Bank, Midtown Tire, Tamory Hall, Vander Ploeg Bakery, and Iowa Bike for the coffee and pastries!
The Counselor Connection
Are you or your student struggling this season? You are not alone. Covid Recovery Iowa is providing free virtual counseling and assistance for anyone affected by COVID-19. They also have weekly virtual support groups for pre-teens, teens, and parents talking about stress and the impact of COVID-19. Please contact Chelsea.Siefken@pathwaysb.org if you would like to join.
Visit the public Facebook page Parenting in a Pandemic where you’ll find daily questions that you can ask your child to help connect you, ground you, and spark conversations. Along with other helpful tools for parenting in a pandemic!
The next counseling small group will be beginning after the first of the year. The Social Club will focus on identifying communication styles, practicing positive communication skills, self-advocacy, and conflict resolution. If you would like me to speak to your child about participating, please email me.
Sincerely,
