Reynolds' Report
Happy Sunday, Roadrunner Families!
Thank you so much for coming out to support your Superstars on Wednesday at our Starstruck Showcase! I was so proud of all of our children for their excellent dancing. It is nerve wracking to get up in front of so many eyes to dance, and our kiddos did an amazing job!
A big thank you to the staff at GEMS who hosted and supported our event and to the incredible teachers who carved out the time to help their students practice, get costumes, and build confidence to go on stage!
It was moving to see so many students and their families fill the gymnasium at GEMS. We have such a special community here at First Street School. Our students are lucky to have such incredible family support. We can't wait to see you all again at our Family Reading Night at the end of the month!
Thank you again for your incredible support! Have a great week, Roadrunners!

Updates and Important Information
A Reminder About Parking Lot Safety
Please remember that our crossing guards are in place for student safety. If a crossing guard is in the crosswalk, please be respectful of the choices they are making for student safety.
Please note the map below and observe our safety rules for drop off and pick up:
- We have two lanes in our parking lot.
- Red arrows indicate the loading lane and green arrows indicate the driving lane.
- Please stay in your car in the loading lane, drop your student off quickly, and proceed out of the parking lot to keep our drop off line moving smoothly.
- If you need to get out of your car, please kindly find a parking spot. I know this is hard, especially in the first weeks of school, but it truly does keep our students safe.
- Please only drive in the driving lane, this is not an area for stopping to drop off or pick up students.
- Our yard duties and teachers have been asked not to allow students to go into the driving lane to get into waiting cars.
- Please do not create a third lane by driving around people in the driving lane, that causes unsafe conditions for our students and the adults around us.
Thank you for working with us to keep your Roadrunners safe!

Box Tops for Education
February is the last month that paper Box Tops coupons can be collected & submitted. Look through your pantry to see if there are any remaining unexpired Box Tops waiting to be cut from the packaging. Send them to the school office by Thursday, February 23rd for inclusion in our final submission of physical Box Tops coupons.
Box Tops will continue to be collected digitally with the Box Tops app. For each Box Top submitted, First Street School gets back $0.10. While that isn't much on its own, the whole school community collecting them from Participating Products throughout the year can earn enough to pay for things like software memberships or supplies for classroom activities.
- Earn Box Tops for participating products by scanning receipts with the Box Tops app.
- When you shop online or use delivery services, you can earn Box Tops by forwarding your e-receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com. See further details about submitting e-receipts here.
- Double-dipping IS still allowed for February. If any newly purchased product still displays a traditional Box Tops coupon, you can clip & send it in to the school AND scan the receipt for that item with the app & earn credit twice.

Affordable Connectivity Program
Internet connectivity is an important part of academic success in education today. Luckily, there are a lot of different options to ensure that your student has access to internet at home. If you do not have internet at home, you may qualify for discounts on internet and computers through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program.
Find out if you qualify by following the instructions at the link here: https://getmyinternet.org/?j=9063912&sfmc_sub=198464893&l=2048712_HTML&u=202253676&mid=6409703&jb=17020&utm_source=edu_acp_2022.09.12&utm_medium=email
Updated COVID Protocols
Student Quarantine:
Effective this year, California Department of Public Health has replaced most of the requirements about student quarantine with recommendations. The one remaining requirement is that students who are ill must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aide of fever-reducing medications before they are able to return to school. Please see the documents below for more detailed information.
