A Difficult Conversation On a Troubling Topic
A part of our districts' mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for all our students. Last week, PCHS participated in the Signs of Suicide prevention program to help educate students about the warning of depression and suicide. A big focus for the program was how to get help for themselves or a friend who is in need. The program asked students to A.C.T. - Acknowledge, Care for themselves and each other, Tell a trusted adult. According to the Missouri Student Survey (2016), Platte County High School is below the state average in students reporting suicidal ideations, our building survey validated that we still have students who are in need of assistance. Please use this experience to have a conversation with your student, encourage talking with a trusted adult when they are struggling or if they know someone who is in need of assistance. Let your student know that you can be a trusted adult. If you have any concerns or need help on how to talk with your student, please contact Mrs. Falk, PCHS social worker or any of our counseling staff 816.858-2822.

Bullying and Safety Concerns
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.
Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to learn!
