THIS IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT CLASSES.
***Note the following excerpt from the KISD Intermediate Student Handbook 2019-2020:
In grades 6-8, students may not repeat a course that has been satisfactorily completed in order to improve their grades, except in the case of a student who has been retained.
High School Courses Students taking high school courses shall take a semester final examination (session) that shall count no more than 10 percent of the total session grade. For grade averaging the following formula will be used each semester:
First grading period grade = 45 percent
Second grading period grade = 45 percent
Semester examination = 10 percent
A student who misses the semester examination must have a note from either the family physician or the school nurse verifying the illness. If it is necessary for a student to miss an examination, he should have his parent or guardian contact the nurse on the day of the exam. No exam will be given early. Make-up exams will be given in the case of illness or death in the immediate family.
A student missing an exam will be given a zero on the examination unless it was missed due to an excused absence as determined by the principal. It must be made up in accordance with the schedule established by the school administration. A student may not obtain an early dismissal from any scheduled semester exam.
Each semester of a course will receive one-half credit and must be passed independently.
EOC Courses: Students taking high school courses for which there is a state-mandated end-ofcourse exam shall take the EOC exam. A student missing the EOC exam must re-take the EOC exam during the next available state assessment administration.

FAST FOOD FRIDAY:
WATCHDOGS
Staff/Fathers and father-figures of Doerre students,
On December 11th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm we will be having our 1st annual ‘Dads and Kids’ Pizza Night at our school. At 5:15pm we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. We would like to have staff/ fathers and father figures be the founding members of this program, to encourage other fathers of Doerre students to participate.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers this is your chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun atmosphere at school.

Basic Doerre Information
Important Information: Student Arrival Time
Students are not allowed in the building before 8 AM unless they have a pass for a specific teacher, date and time.
If a student arrives at school before 8 AM they will need to wait in front until the building is open.
We wish we could allow all students in upon their arrival, but there have been some issues with students roaming the building before 8 AM. It is not safe to allow this to continue and we need your help with this matter.
Notes from the Crossing Guards to Cut Down on Traffic
2. Please do NOT pick up students in the middle of the road. They are running across traffic. This is dangerous and is holding up other cars.
3. When pulling onto or out of Warrior Way, do not block the crosswalk.
4. Please be present when driving around children. Watch for students at crosswalks, drive through crosswalks cautiously, knowing that students aren't paying attention.
5. Please follow the speed limits. School zones are 20 MPH max.....
6. Please tell your child that all students need to completely get off of their bikes and scooters when walking through a crosswalk.
Food and Drinks
We understand that there are exceptions and that there may be someone with a medical condition that needs quick access to a snack or a drink, this is not the issue.
Water bottles are okay, everyone needs an occasional drink....as long as they have a screw on top and are securely stored inside of backpacks. This water may not be taken out in classrooms if a teacher does not allow it or in hallways. The water may also not be out around any Chromebooks due to insurance purposes.
Thank you so much for your help in this!
