10th - 15th November 2014
Welcome back everyone! I trust you all had a wonderful and restful break. The children have come back full of holiday stories and I'm sure they grew lots in just a week away!
November is a very patriotic month here in Panama and we have been making our own Panamanian flag to mark this. The children used their tearing and cutting skills to make each section of the flag. They practiced hand -eye coordination when glueing their pieces and team skills to work together. A picture of our finished flag to come next week!
We have been talking about the traditions of Panama and are making our own traditional costumes with Polleras, Tembleques, Montunas.
Fun with hoops!
"Hand-eye coordination, team work, listening skills and following direction? We thought it was just a fun game with hoops!"
Well done PK3.3
Getting ready for the Holiday Shop.....
A big thank you to our room moms Marianella and Jessica for planning such a fun Christmas Craft activity this week. Christmas music played whilst the children coloured, glued and glittered Snowmen, Reindeers and Santas! Parents will be able to purchase their childs craft, along with lots of other holiday gifts and treats at the PTA Holiday Shop. More details to follow.
Parents: Don't forget - if you would like to do something with the children on a Thursday please let me know. It doesn't have to be cooking. it could be a craft activity, reading a story or sharing something about your family or country with us.
Our last week studying balls.
This week we finish our study on balls. The children have really enjoyed learning about how many different types of balls there are and what they can be used for. We hung a "wrecking ball" in our block centre and the children worked together to build tall towers and knock then down again. They used their problem solving skills to work out how high the tower needed to be and then hand eye coordination to knock it down.
Using a pump and a flat ball we conducted our own science experiment to discover what happens when you put air inside a ball. We learnt that the air makes the ball bigger and bouncier!
We celebrated the end of our ball study with a huge ball park in the playground! Basketball and football was great for team play, hoops and balls for hand-eye coordination, sensory balls for fine motor skills and the ice-cream was obviously shaped like a ball!
Next week BOXES! Please remember to send in any boxes you may have from home. Thank you.
And there was lots of this......
Please remember to send your children with healthy snacks for break time (small pieces of fruit, yoghurt, small sandwiches, cheese, etc), along with a water bottle/juice/milk. Thank you for your continued support.
PE is every FRIDAY - please send your children in wearing PE uniform and suitable footwear. Long hair should be tied back.
