Welcome to our first newsletter for the 2017-18 year! In this newsletter is a handful of articles from our talented writers, all dealing with news(duh), sports, lifestyle, and opinions. But this is just the beginning and this is just a sample for what were going to be putting out this year. Keep on checking our website for new updates beyond the newsletter. In the next few months, top colleges from all around the United States are coming to Phoenix to speak with interested students about the admission process, school programs, financial aid, etc. Many colleges from both in-state and out of state are also coming to Agua Fria and hosting informational meetings for a maximum of 50 students.

The Ice Cube Strikes (Puns) Again

New and old members of Cold Water Comedy unite once again to bring laughter and fun memories to Agua Fria. On August 24th, 25th, and 27th, 22 students auditioned, showcasing their skills in scene work, quick thinking, and making puns to hopefully take a spot on The Agua Fria Improvisation team.

W Volleyball Bounces Back

Agua Fria’s varsity women’s volleyball team played its first home game against Centennial High School on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. It was an intense game against a team with “bigger and stronger blockage,” said coach Stephanie Parker.

Football Back in Action Tonight After Loss Last Week

The Agua Fria Owls took the field on Friday, September 8th against North Canyon High School. The Owls took a devastating loss to North Canyon, the score was 21-28. This was a tough loss for the Owls considering that North Canyon came from behind in the final minutes of the game.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind Review

I like aliens. You like aliens (I assume). But you know who else loves aliens? Steven Spielberg. Many of his movies are sci-fi films and five of them involve aliens, well, four of them, I try to forget about one of them (I’m looking at you Crystal Skull). But, before he did E.T., Spielberg explored the idea of mysterious extra terrestrials with Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which just recently had its 40th anniversary.

Lunch Lines Still Too Long

Lunch is very important to us as humans, especially high school students. The way Agua Fria High School’s lunch line functions raises a lot of thoughts. While talking to many students and staff, I have heard different opinions about the way the lines function. These are the thoughts of different people with different roles during lunch.
