Deer Families
Deer Hill School News . December 23, 2022
Dear Deer Hill Families,
I will keep this intro letter short and sweet. I wish you and your families a wonderful break that I hope is full of time to rest, time to play, time to celebrate, and time to reflect. I head into 2023 being so very grateful for our wonderful school community.
All the best,
Alexandra L. Sullivan
Principal, Deer Hill School

Need to Knows
- With the colder weather we have more families using the back loop for car drop off and pick up. Please remember that cars should form two lanes and "zipper" in every other car to form one lane as you come around the loop to the doors. For more details please see this communication which was previously shared.
- Another way that we are working to improve our car pick up process is by reinstating the windshield placards that identify your car for a quicker dismissal. These placards will be distributed to cars by staff at dismissal beginning in January. Thank you for filling them out and placing them on the right side of your dashboard where they are visible through the windshield.
Keeping the Joy (happenings at Deer Hill)
- Our holiday concert was a festive way to head into break. Under the leadership of Mr. DeWaal and Mrs. Lewis grade 5 band and grades 3-5 chorus performed beautifully! Thank you so much for joining us. Our next performances are the All Schools Concerts which will include grade 4 band and will take place in March.
- On Wednesday students were treated to an extra special lunch where they were served garlic bread and kale pesto. Not only was it delicious, but it was made using kale and pesto from the Deer Hill garden! Thank you to John Belber from Holly Hill, Deer Hill parent Dee Riley, and our kitchen staff for their joint effort!
- On Friday, December 16 our own Ms. Flynn, grade 4 SPED teacher, treated us to a rendition of the National Anthem during a Friday Flag assembly on Celtics Spirit Day. We were a great warm up for Ms. Flynn before her performance at the Celtics game that night!
- Congratulations to the two Deer Hill First Lego League (FLL) robotics teams, Team Captain and Team Hook, for their great showing at the competition at WPI on December 10. In the words of their robotics leader, Mrs. Corkhum: "Regardless of the outcome in numbers, it is evident the teams had numerous wins! They won at leadership, perseverance, teamwork, inclusion, and soooo many more. I am so incredibly proud of how the teams performed and hope they will continue as they move to Cohasset Middle School."
