Week at a Glance
Welcome back Westlake Lions!! We are so excited to begin the school year and continue Westlake's Legacy of Excellence. The entire Westlake faculty is bursting with excitement, ready to welcome our Lions back into the building face-to-face.
There are a few updates (detailed in this newsletter) designed to stop the spread of COVID-19 and its many variants. Masks are required in the building, and on buses. We need everyone to adhere to and support our visitor restrictions. Only faculty and students will be able to enter the building. Our faculty and staff will ensure that your child is welcomed and arrives to their classes safely. Parents seeking to enroll will need to sign in and will be directed to the media center for support.
Counselors continue to make schedule changes. If you have already requested a schedule change there is no further action needed. Counselors are trying to honor all requests without overcrowding classes. Curriculum Assistant Principal Ms. Johnson has emailed you the most updated schedule for your student.
All students will report to their 1A (1st Period - A Day) by 8:20 am. Students will be permitted to enter the building beginning at 7:30 am. Students arriving between 7:30 - 7:45 must report to and remain in the cafeteria until released by an administrator. Students arriving after 7:45 am will report to the auxiliary gym (non-breakfast eaters) or the cafeteria (breakfast eater until 8:05 am. Beginning at 8:05 am, the cafeteria will close and breakfast will be grab-and-go. Breakfast eaters will use the trashcans in the hallway to discard breakfast packaging.
Parents, please ensure that your student comes to school dressed aged appropriately and follows all the FCS dress code guidelines. As a reminder hats, hoods, and bonnets are prohibited in the building. Head coverings accompanied with a mask increases the inability to recognizing individuals which creates a safety risk.
Students will be dismissed at 3:30 pm. Buses will depart from Westlake beginning at 3:38 pm. Fulton County Transportation will notify parents of late/delayed buses. All car riders and drivers must be off campus by 4:00 pm. After-school tutorial and club meetings will resume in September.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at adamsji@fultonschools.org.
Kind Regards,
Jarvis I Adams, Principal
Stay informed regarding Covid-19
UPDATE: On August 5, FCS published a Community Update reporting that 13 of the 14 cities in Fulton County that contain FCS Schools or Facilities have exceeded the level public health officials consider “High Community Spread.” Therefore, schools and facilities in these jurisdictions will require masks effective Monday, August 9. A complete list of affected schools can be found here and will be updated weekly. This update was posted on our FCS News Website and was also emailed directly to parents, community members, and the media. At Fulton County Schools, we work daily to ensure the health and well-being of our students and staff in the midst of the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Here is the key info you need to know:
