Updated Parent COVID Screening guidelines
Please see the attached link for updates, including what symptoms to look for, what to report to the school, and the new five and ten day rules. We continue to use the "nurse hotline", and ask you to check in when your student shows symptoms. These nurses assess the situation and guide us with attendance. They may be reached at 425-366-7745.

A note from the Elementary Support Specialists (ESS)
Every week, the Fairmount Elementary Support Specialists provide lessons in Social Emotional Learning to all classrooms. Over the past few months, studies included a variety of different emotions and generated strategies to meet our emotion goals. In the coming weeks, we will begin exploring students’ ideas of their “best selves,” and discuss how to use these values to shape responses when dealing with challenging, strong emotions.
As always, please reach out to the Elementary Support Specialists if you have any concerns you’d like to discuss or would like to know more about RULER, Fairmount’s approach to social-emotional learning.

January's Safety Drill
We practiced a Lockdown drill for January. A Lockdown is initiated when there is a threat on campus. In this drill, all students moved into the building, all doors were locked, and blinds closed. Staff directed students away from windows and doorways.
The following article provides additional information on Lockdowns at school and may be helpful: What is a School Lockdown Drill?. Conducting drills enables our staff to practice the necessary safety protocols so that we are prepared in the event of an emergency.
