Because By Your Holy Cross, You Have Redeemed The World

Big picture

In Pilate's hands we see the Father's will.

Though Pilate is unjust, he is the lawful governor and has power over Jesus. The Son of God is obedient. Yet obedience cost Jesus his life. For us, it costs much less, an act of will, no more. Yet, how hard it is for us to obey. How quick are we to condemn those in our own lives - a simple disagreement, those we work with, our family, our friends.

When we condemn those around us, we turn away from Jesus, shading the light of hope and turning it to darkness. In many countries, people are persecuted for expressing their faith publicly. Yet how many times do we deny our religion or condemn those who do not share our views?

Father, give us the courage to hear your will and to obey it as your Son did on our behalf. Let us pray for those who are persecuted for their beliefs. We also pray for the imprisoned and those who feel the chains of restraint emotionally and physically. That we may share the light of hope with our neighbors, now and always.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen

A Message From Mrs. Nennig

After much thoughtful prayer, I have decided that I will not be returning to Holy Cross for the 2022-2023 school year. This was a very difficult decision for me as I have spent 16 wonderful years here and have met so many amazing children, families, and co-workers. I will really miss seeing all of the students’ beautiful faces every morning as I walk in (usually five minutes late - balancing two coffee cups, a water bottle, a backpack and a purse).

Holy Cross is truly a special place and will always be in my heart. Thank you to all of you that have made Holy Cross more than a school to me - but instead - a family.

God Bless.

A Message From Srta. Calawerts

Next year, I will be pursuing a career teaching English to speakers of other languages and plan to relocate to the Chippewa Falls area. This year at Holy Cross has given me the opportunity to grow in relationship with God, my colleagues, and my students and I truly believe that God led me to this position and special community to encourage my professional growth and deepen my love for my Catholic faith. Thank you to all the families, colleagues, and students who impacted my life here. I ask for your prayers in my next journey forward and I will continue to pray for you.

Eighth Grade Book Clubs

For 8th-grade's current reading unit they are split into three groups with different books: The Book Thief, Out of My Mind, and Counting by 7s. This week they have been focusing on themes and being able to apply those themes to other stories and real-world events. Today, they met in their "book clubs" and went through a series of activities to analyze the themes of their books in different ways. The activities involved comparing and contrasting, debating, and ranking.

Publishing Party

Kindergarten had a Publishing Party with their 8th grade buddies! They
read through various stories they wrote this year and talked about new
ideas with their buddies. It’s so fun watching their skills and
relationships grow!
