One Book One Day
Get ready for the first-ever One Book, One Day event at the Greene School. This school wide literacy event on Tuesday, November 21 will have the entire staff & student body in on the fun. Teachers, administrators, and 6th grade students will read and perform the book All of the Above for everyone's enjoyment. The experience will act as a prelude to our visiting author, Shelley Pearsall, who will come to Greene in February.
Students are welcome to wear their PJ's as we invite them to snuggle up with a good book. The cafeteria will get in on the action as they have created a menu based on details in the book. Students will be able to purchase BBQ pork, corn bread, cole slaw, baked beans, mac n cheese, and chocolate cake.
Got Candy?
Optional CogAT Testing
An optional administration of the CogAT for gifted service will be offered on Friday, December 15, 2017.
Who should take this test?
1) Current 5th grade students who are NOT in Accelerated Math or Advanced Language, but have 2 scores of 95th percentile or higher on their Math or Reading MAP within the last 12 months. These 5th grade students should register for the test and will need to score a 128 on the CogAT for placement into 6th grade Accelerated Math and/or Advanced Language.
2) Current 5th or 6th grade Accelerated Math students who are interested in taking Double Accelerated Math and have 2 scores of 98th percentile or higher on their Math MAP within the last 12 months. These students should register for the test and will need to score a 144 on the CogAT for placement into 6th or 7th grade Double Accelerated Math.
Unless testing for Double Accelerated Math, current accelerated students do NOT need a CogAT score to re-qualify for Advanced Language or Accelerated Math. Nor is the CogAT needed for any junior high placements (with the exception of Double Accelerated Math).
If your child meets the above criteria and you would like to have him/her tested, please click on the link below to register for CogAT Testing by Monday, December 11th.
PBIS at Home- First Class Passes
We hope you have found our tips for implementing those Aviator Expectations at home helpful! Do you have a success story we can share? If so, please feel free to email Ms. Brubaker at brubakera@sycamoreschools.org to share! We can post your story (anonymously if you wish!) for others to see and from which to learn.
Also, be sure to ask your child about First Class Passes! Students have been receiving these passes for following the expectations. Each team has come up with their own incentives for “cashing in” the passes. We will soon be announcing our next layer to the school-wide incentive program! Stay tuned for more exciting details!
