Principal's Message

Hello Wildcats!

Only 5 more days until kids come back to school and we are excited! Thank you to all those who came out for the Popsicles with the Principals event. It was wonderful to see so many kids and families in spite of the incredible heat.

In the newsletter you’ll find lots of useful information including ideas for overcoming 1st day jitters, introductions of our new staff, links to information about afterschool activities and a checklist of things to do before school begins. I don’t know about you, but I am a big fan of checklist. I usually have several going at a time. And yes, I am one of those people who will write something on my list after I’ve done it just so I can mark it off.

I can't wait to meet our students and their families at Sneak Preview this Friday! I hope to see you then.

Stephanie Haga

Wilson Creek is COVID-19 Aware

We understand that sending your child back to school is exciting, but with uncertainty around COVID and it's progression is is concerning as well. At Wilson Creek, we are aware the pandemic is still with us. As we prepare for the beginning of school next week, we are educating ourselves about the news and policies relating to COVID-19 and will be adhering to the following:

  1. We will strongly encourage masks for individuals at WCES. Masks are optional and not mandated for students, staff, or visitors to wear in the school building but will be encouraged, especially at large events like Sneak Peek on Friday. Masks will be required to be worn on the bus as this is a federal guideline per the CDC
  2. We will continue to promote general health and hygiene practices and physical distancing where practical.
  3. Regular hand washing will be a part of the classroom procedures.

  4. We will continue to have masks in the front office for anyone who would like one.

  5. Hand sanitizer stations and hand soap will be available in all classrooms and hallways.

  6. Classrooms as always will be cleaned nightly and teachers and students will wipe down areas in the classroom when or if needed.

  7. If your child is sick for any reason, PLEASE keep them home. Send an email or note into the office upon returning to school. See WCES updated Parent Handbook for more details. Handbook will be updated by next week and will be shared on our website and in the next Wildcat News.
  8. We will continue to have our shared water fountains blocked off. Please have your child bring a water bottle filled for the day.
  9. We value the HIPAA laws, and we understand vaccinations are private and confidential for staff, families, and children.

Please reach out if you have additional questions. I know this is very stressful for our Wildcat families. I can assure you that our number one priority is to keep your child and your family safe.

Thank you!

Stephanie Haga

We look forward to seeing everyone at Sneak Preview on Friday. Feel free to bring your child's school supplies with you, but there is no need to bring back FCS laptops and chargers until the first day of school.

Back to School Checklist

The document below contains a list of things to be completed before school starts. Some of these things can be completed at Sneak Preview as well, but you can expedite your time here by signing up in advance.

First Day Drop Off and Transportation Changes

We recommend that students start their school year by arriving and leaving school by the same transportation method they will use for the year. With that said, I know many of you and/or your children feel better when you bring them to school on the first day.

We will allow parents to walk their children to class on the first day of school, but only for drop off. This is not a time to try to talk with the teacher, or get a tour of your child's classroom. If you choose to walk your child in, please hug them at the classroom door and leave. This will help your child more easily transition into the class. All parents must be out of the building by the time the bell rings at 7:40am. Thank you for understanding.

Also, at Sneak Preview you will let your child's teacher know how they will be going home the first day and then how they will go home for the rest of the year. If you change your child's transportation method after this point you will need to print and send in a Change of Dismissal form for your child to bring to the front office. Please do not email change of dismissal forms to the teacher. The teacher may be absent, or too busy teaching to see the email.
