Rhode Island PBS, Rhode Island Student Assistance Services (RISAS), and the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH), present Opioids in Our Community: Perspectives for Parents on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The virtual event brings parents and guardians together with a panel of educators, counselors, and health experts throughout our region. The goal of the event is to provide parents and guardians with insight on opioid use disorder, as well as to share informative resources like Rhode Island PBS LearningMedia, which can be used to effectively engage their children around substance use awareness and prevention.
By creating a safe and inclusive space for parents and guardians, this event will allow them to share their concerns, validate their experiences, and learn how to spot warning signs in their children.
Opioids in Our Community: Perspectives for Parents will be held on Zoom. The event is free to attend but registration is required.

Hidden in Plain Sight
Hidden in Plain Sight allows parents a unique interactive opportunity to look into a teen's mock bedroom. The room is full of common household items that could be used to hide or disguise drug, alcohol, tobacco use or other "risky" behaviors. Usually we set this up in the school during Open Houses, but during COVID we have created a virtual version that you can do at home!

If you are worried about your child you may contact Christine Bandoni, Student Assistance Counselor at her direct line - 401-396-8405. All referrals are confidential.
