Information For Pathfinder Families / November 2nd

Parent / Teacher Conferences (November 3rd and 4th)

It is not too late to sign up for a Parent/Teacher conference. Your child's teacher has sent out communication about signing up for Parent/Teacher conferences on either November 3rd or 4th. We are offering both virtual and in-person options this school year. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our parents. Please make sure to sign up for a time that works for your schedule.

----------------------------------------------------------

Thank a Teacher

As we head into Parent Teacher conferences this week, please take a minute to thank a Pathfinder staff member using the form below. Responses from this form will generate a kind note that will go straight to teacher's emails! Lots of time and effort goes into report card comments and preparing for a successful night of Parent Teacher conferences. We would love to flood our staff member's inboxes with positive and kind words from students and parents alike!

Annual Title I Meeting

On Monday, November 8th, our PTA will hold their monthly meeting in the Pathfinder Library at 6:00 PM. During this time, we will also conduct our annual Title I meeting. At the beginning of the PTA Meeting, Dr. Alicia Casey, PCR3's Director of Academic Services, will join us to provide an overview of Title I programming at Pathfinder, how these funds are utilized, and our Parent Engagement Plan. Please join us for this informational meeting! We are attaching the agenda for your convenience.

Pathfinder Book Fair / October 27th - November 4th

We will be hosting an in-person Scholastic Book Fair in the library this year! Students will have the opportunity to purchase items from the Book Fair during their regularly scheduled library classes! They can pay using cash or e-wallet (this is a way for students to pay electronically - details regarding e-wallets are included in the flyer). If your student goes to specials with another class, please plan for them to make any purchases on the day that class comes to the library. Below is a flyer with all the details about our Book Fair:

October Leadership Social

We had a great Leadership Social on Thursday, October 28th! One of our guest leadership speakers was a Got Character Senior Caleb Kelley, who shared with the students leadership skills that he needs in high school. His advice to the students was to simply be kind and spend some extra time just helping someone out!

We were also joined by KCMO Firefighter Dan Becker. Dan has two students at Pathfinder and he brought along his crew and ladder truck! The students learned about fire safety and checked out a lot of the equipment used for their job.

Picture Retake Day: December 2nd

Our Fall picture retake day is scheduled for December 2nd. This will be for all students who did not have a Fall picture taken, absent students from our Fall picture day, and students that did not like their purchased packet from September 8th. Students looking to retake need to return the current purchased packet on the day of retakes.

Calling All Veterans

We are looking for Veterans...on November 11th at 10:00, guests will be escorted to their child's classroom where they will have the opportunity to field questions related to their service and, if comfortable, read a short book aloud to the class (the classroom teacher may read the story if you prefer). Following this time in the classroom, all Veterans and their Pathfinder child/child(ren) are invited to a cookie reception in our main hallway area.

If the Veteran in your family is able to join us in our celebration described above, please email Amy Wazac at wazaca@platteco.k12.mo.us. We are also requesting a picture of your Veteran either in uniform or with his/her Pathfinder child(ren) that we can share with all students. Please email with plans to attend and comfort level reading as well as with a picture by Thursday, November 4th.

Fall Parent Survey / Please Complete By December 3rd

The Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. Your input is important and will be considered when making future decisions.

If you have not already completed the survey during Parent/Teacher conferences, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

**NEW THIS YEAR: For the comment portion of our stakeholder surveys, we are using a new tool called Thought Exchange. Participants share thoughts, then rate thoughts shared by others to create themes and help the District prioritize next steps.

Car Rider Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders

We feel it is important that we remind parents of a few important items to help with our car rider drop off and pick up.

Drop Off:

  • Please stay in your car when dropping off your student. A staff member will help your child out of the car.
  • If at all possible please have your child on the passenger side of the car so he or she does not need to cross in front of other cars.
  • Our car rider line begins at 8:30, and doors will close at 8:50. Your child will be late to school if they arrive after 8:50.

Pick Up

  • Please do not come up the side driveway between Pathfinder and Barry School. Our drop off and pick up map can be found below.
  • Do not get out of your car during the dismissal process, and please pull forward if you need to help buckle in your child.
  • Please make sure to call the office before 3:00 if your child is to be a car rider.

Pathfinder Resource Checklist

Hello Pirate Families! At the beginning and middle of each school year, we ask parents and guardians to fill out our Resource Checklist on paper. This year we are asking you to complete the Resource Checklist electronically using this form. This brief questionnaire is your School Social Worker's first and primary way to help you access support services. It also lets us know if you are interested in giving back to your school community. Please do not hesitate to contact your School Social Worker if you have any questions.

COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance and Data

Please see the attached quarantine guidance for students or staff members who are identified as a close contact to a person with COVID-19. The graphic outlines the requirements if all parties are appropriately masked, as well as if they are not. These quarantine procedures are in alignment with directives from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Platte County Health Department (PCHD).

We will post numbers of reported COVID-19 cases and close contacts in our District on our website, displaying data from the previous seven days, as well as 7-day rolling average information. These cases will include staff and students, and will only include those reported to the District.

This information will be available on our District website here starting Tuesday, September 7.
