The Scientific Name of the Monarch Butterfly is "Danaus plexippus."
The Monarch Butterfly has wings so they can fly; they also have beautiful colors- orange, black, and white.
Monarch Butterflies are herbivores. They consume nectar, water, and liquids from the fruit we eat.
They live in tropical rain forests and savannas.
They start out as an egg. They hatch into baby caterpillars, and they feed off of milkweeds in order to grow. After a few weeks they attach themselves somewhere to start the process of "metamorphosis", then transform into a chrysalis. After 10 days they hatch into a butterfly.
