Centennial's Newsday Tuesday
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 8/24/21
A Letter from the Superintendent of Schools (re: Wednesday's Deadline to enroll in Virtual Learning)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to take one more opportunity to alert you to the deadline to enroll in Virtual Edmond (VE). Families who are thinking about changing their enrollment from either VE or in-person must do so by 5 p.m. August 25. Please remember that after August 25, families are committed to the placement through the end of the semester.
I realize these are hard decisions for families to make, thus there is always a desire for more time or flexibility. That is why I wanted to remind you of the deadline.
To switch your child from a brick and mortar school to Virtual Edmond, just alert the registrar at your school and they will follow up with you about the next steps you should take.
To switch your child from Virtual Edmond back to in-person contact the appropriate VE administrator by 5 p.m. on August 25.
Again, the deadline to switch is August 25 at 5 p.m. Please keep in mind that site registrars will be very busy assisting families, so please do not wait until the last minute.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and thank you for your continued patience and support during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Angela Grunewald
September 16 is our Boosterthon Fundraiser Kick-Off...We Need Your Help!
Centennial Families!
We are excited to kick off our Centennial Fun Run in just 3 weeks on September 16th!
Our goal is to raise $30,000 for school improvements and to strengthen our school community.
Centennial has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. And this year, we have more needs than we’ve ever had before, which means we appreciate your support more than ever!
Here’s what all students can get excited about:
- Fun, engaging character development lesson
- A high-energy event to give our school a much needed boost of fun!
(Note: We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at mybooster.com. (Sharing IS supporting!)
We’ve asked our friends at Booster to power our fundraiser to make it more profitable, fun, and easy for everyone. We have worked closely together to ensure this event follows the safety and health guidelines of our school.
We’ll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off.
Key dates to remember:
- Registration Opens - 8/30

A Note from the Principal
Last week was a truly wonderful week and we are so grateful to be at a school with such caring families, staff and students!
Teachers in all grade levels have been laying the foundation for all of the important learning our students will enjoy this year by teaching, modeling and practicing classroom and school-wide routines and expectations.
You can learn more about these by attending our Back to School Night tonight (for grades PK-2) and / or Thursday (for grades 3-5)! We encourage families who wish to avoid the crowd to take advantage of reviewing the slide presentations sent from your child's teacher(s). For those attending in-person, we encourage you to wear a mask to help us stop / slow the spread of COVID. Thank you and we hope you enjoy learning more about this exciting year at Centennial!
Teachers have begun their beginning of year assessments, an important first step in determining the right teaching for each student. We will be sharing results of our beginning of year assessments soon!
Finally, for those who drop off students or pick up in the afternoon, we appreciate your help and flexibility in starting and ending our days on a safe and pleasant note. We are constantly evaluating our practices to ensure they are logical and in the best interest of students.
Finally, the 4th grade "late lunch" has been a subject of topic and we are trying to find a good work-around for all. Thank you for all of your patience as we help with this.
I appreciate you!
With Kind Regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal

Centennial Families are Simply THE BEST!
Families, our PALS and PTO members are welcome and valuable members of the Centennial Family!
To honor our district's safety protocols, we must request that volunteer activities are, at this time, to take place in the PALS & PTO rooms on our campus. Thank you for understanding and know that, just like you, we can't wait until we may welcome precious and valued family members in more frequently! For more information about these safety protocols, please click here.
In Case of Absence
Families, did you know that you may call 405-726-4699 any time to leave a message regarding your student's need to be absent or tardy? We encourage this so the phone lines aren’t tied up in the morning during AM drop off. If a family accidentally forgets to call on when a student is absent, an automated call goes out at 10:30 to families who have not yet reported their child is absent as a reminder. Thank you!
