November 2022 #purposepridepassion
Welcome to Allied Arts for the Month of November!
Art and Design
Welcome back to the Visual Arts portion on the Allied Arts newsletter! Lots has been going on in the art room! 4th grade has finished their faux cupcake sculptures and are moving on to origami and 3-d drawing skills. 5th grade A and B days are completing and flipping projects from weaving to perspective dream room drawing. 6th, 7th and 8th grade are working towards their last sketchbook assignment. 6th, 7th and 8th grade are working on ceramics, pinch pot, slab, coil and/or pottery wheel concepts. November also wraps up the end of the trimester. If your student has not had art yet, they will be coming to art class either trimester 2 or 3. We've been having a lot of fun and learning a lot this trimester. Students in this trimester will be taking things home in the middle of November to prepare for the trimester switch. Artwork in the display case will hang out there for a while and be rotated into other displays continuing throughout the year.
Technical Education
Our woodworking unit is ending with our 4th and 5th graders. Seeing students on scroll saws and using hand tools to create something they are so proud of is always exciting. 6th graders are heading into the computer lab learning home design using SketchUp CAD software. 7th graders are finishing final projects from bookcases to building bridges that can withstand 50 pounds to being board game designers. And finally, our 8th graders are getting ready to sail in their cardboard boats. Students are putting the final touches on their boat designs.
