Setting Up for a Successful Year
One of the most powerful resources a school has is their partnerships with families. This week we held elections for the PTA Executive Board and School Site Council. Congratulations to the following members of the PTA Executive Board on their election:
- Jen Boucek, President
- Jasmin Grijalva, Treasurer
- Natasha Fields, Secretary
At our meeting we also discussed upcoming events like Trunk or Treat and a Winter Performance! Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
We also elected our family and community representatives for School Site Council. This is the main governing body for the school in charge of crafting the Comprehensive School Safety Plan, School Plan for Student Achievement, and Title I Budget.
- Michi Bui-Tuong
- Kathy Figueroa
- Jen Boucek
- Kim Kanie
- Natasha Fields.
Today we conducted our first fire safety and evacuation drill. All of our students and team members conducted themselves professionally, efficiently, and seriously. We were able to execute the drill in SEVEN Minutes. That's faster than our fastest drill last year! The next drill will be on October 19th as part of the Great California Shakeout.
Be on the lookout in your student's backpack for a San Diego Library card and information about resources at our public libraries. The SD Public Library has provided free cards to all students in SDUSD. This allows students to check out audiobooks, movies, and receive homework help after school for no cost!
Students also received a flyer with information about our partnership with Hazel Health. All SDUSD students now have the opportunity to see a medical professional and receive mental health support from home via a virtual portal. All services are provided a NO COST to the family regardless of insurance coverage. The flyer is shared below as well.
Next week is the first of our three "Tricky Tuesdays". Not only is Tuesday, picture day, but it's a minimum day as well. School will be dismissed at 12PM on both Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
Student of the Week
This week's Student of the Week is Abraham in Mrs. Wilsie's 1st/2nd grade class. Abraham contributes to our happy and safe learning environment daily.
