Fall Festival (Trunk or Treat) October 22nd

On Friday, October 22nd the UV PTO will be hosting our annual Fall Festival from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.

Thank you to everyone that submitted an RSVP for dinner. This year we have a larger number of people participating than ever before. As with all big events at UV, parking will be at a premium. Carpooling or walking (if you live close enough) is highly encouraged.

If you arrive before 6:00 pm, please wait with you child on the blacktop until the trunk or treat area is opened at 6:00 pm.

For safety reasons, all cars participating in Trunk-or-Treat must be in the parking lot by 5:30 pm and will need to remain until the event ends at 7:30 pm. There will be volunteers directing you to your space.

We look forward to seeing everyone on October 22nd.

Please contact Meghan Ferguson (hogan.meghan21@gmail.com ) or Carolyn Marshall (ctisdale28@gmail.com) with any questions.

8th Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Uthoff Valley students are encouraged to invite veteran guests to participate in our 8th Annual Veterans Day Celebration. This is our opportunity to honor and celebrate all who have served. In lieu of our traditional celebration, we will be hosting a Patriotic Parade.

The parade will take place on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Veterans will line up down Uthoff Drive (similar to arrival & dismissal) @ beginning at 9:45am; the parade will begin at 10:00am. You are encouraged to decorate your veterans' car with red, white & blue. The students will line the sidewalk around the bus lane to cheer on our veterans as they drive by.

Please let us know that you will have a veteran participating in the parade by completing the form below.

Veterans Day Volunteers

Uthoff Valley will be celebrating our Veterans this year with a virtual assembly and on-site parade. We are in need of volunteers for purchasing and picking up balloons (you will be reimbursed), decorating inside UV and along the parade route, and photographers/videographers the day of the event.

Please review the sign-up below. We appreciate your help making this a great event for the students and their veterans!

Rockwood Equity Parent Advisory Council (REPAC)

The Rockwood School District is seeking parents interested in serving on a diversity, equity, and inclusion advisory council through the Office of Educational Equity and Diversity. The Rockwood Equity Parent Advisory Council (REPAC) will ensure the Rockwood School District stays on course with the universal equity, opportunity and access goals outlined in The Way Forward, the Rockwood strategic plan. REPAC will promote, support and inform the school community of DEI resources, initiatives, and opportunities. Please use this link to complete the interest form. REPAC information can be found on the RSD website using this link.

New Superintendent Search

The Board of Education is working with School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to hire a new superintendent for the Rockwood School District. In an effort to understand what qualities stakeholders feel the Board should be looking for and what priorities the new superintendent should focus on, all stakeholders - students, staff, parents and community members - are encouraged to weigh in. Opportunities to participate include:

  • Online Survey, available Oct. 11-29

  • Staff Public Forums

    • Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m. at Rockwood Summit High in the Commons

    • Thursday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. at Marquette High in the Library

  • Community Public Forums

    • Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. at Rockwood Summit High in the Commons

    • Thursday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Marquette High in the Library

Findings from the survey, the open forums and several focus group conversations will be used to develop a New Superintendent Profile that will be reported to the Board on Nov. 18, 2021.

Catching Good Character - October = Responsibility

At Uthoff Valley it is our goal that students carryover and apply the Viking Virtues taught at school in their everyday life. We would like to provide the parents the opportunity to share examples of when their child is demonstrating our Viking Virtues at home or in our community.

Simply take a picture of your child displaying the character trait of the month (October is RESPONSIBILITY) and email it to your child’s teacher with a short caption describing their actions (similar to Instagram). Pictures with captions will be displayed in the rotunda for everyone to see!

Read, Right and Run

Dear Parents,

This year Uthoff Valley Elementary will be participating in the annual Read, Right & Run Marathon. This event challenges students to complete a “marathon” over the course of the school year. Students will read, run, and perform good deeds to meet the challenge. The final mile of the marathon will be in Forest Park on April 2, 2022. The following information explains the requirements for Read, Right, and Run.

Books: Students need to read 26 books by April 2, 2022.

  • Students may read 26 books independently (at home) or at school.
  • Students may use a combination of the above to complete their 26 books.

Deeds: All students need to complete 26 good deeds by April 2, 2022.

  • Parents decide what a good deed is. Good deeds may take place at school (helping a teacher), at home (helping around the house, etc.), or in the community (helping neighbors, relatives, etc.)

Miles: Students need to complete 26 miles by April 2, 2022.

If your children participate in after-school sports, you can estimate their mileage.

  • We are hoping to schedule outdoor runs before school, weather permitting. More details on these will come after you register.

Students of all ages/grades can participate. We have had students from kindergarten through 5th grade complete this awesome challenge.

If you plan on taking part in this event, please register online using the link found on the bottom of this sheet. Be sure to register for the 1.2 mile race (not the 5K).

We would like ALL students to be registered by Friday, November 5th. Students can start logging their books, deeds, and miles now. We will distribute the official RRR journals/log sheet as soon as we receive them. (If your child registers AFTER November 5th, we cannot guarantee your child a journal.) We hope you will consider having your child participate in this annual event. Research shows that regular exercise actually improves many areas of brain function including memory, stress reduction, and attention span. All of these areas point toward academic success.

For more information, or if you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 636-891-6725 or at backerjulie@rsdmo.org

Fenton Police Department - Prescription Drug Take Back Event

October 23rd is a DEA sponsored Prescription Take Back event at the Fenton Precinct. Take some time to go through yours, or a loved ones medicine cabinet and remove any unwanted or expired medication. The Take Back is a drive through style, just throw your unwanted medication in our boxes then drive away.

Volunteer Opportunities - We need your help!

Volunteers are a crucial part of the UV community! Here are a few areas where you can help:

Fall Party donations: Parents can donate supplies for the crafts and games for the fall parties.

Kindergarten Party Donations

First Grade Party Donations

Second Grade Party Donations

Third Grade Party Donations

Fourth Grade Party Donations

Fifth Grade Party Donations

Fall Party volunteers: Each classroom will need 4 volunteers to help during the Fall Party on October 29. We know many more parents would like to attend, however we are still trying to err on the side of safety and limit the number of extra visitors in the classrooms at one time. Thank you for understanding!

Volunteer Sign Up

Events Committee: Volunteers will help plan Fall Festival and Winter Wonderfest. Sign up here!

Spring Fundraiser Committee: Volunteers will help plan, organize, and publicize the spring fundraiser for Uthoff parents and friends. Sign up here!

Art Room Assistant: Volunteers help in the art room as needed on a monthly basis, mourning pictures, hanging art of walls, cutting and laminating paper, posters, etc. Sign up here!

Watch D.O.G.S: UV dads, granddads, uncles or any significant male in a UV student's life plan events especially for them and their kids. Sign up here!

CAN WE COUNT YOU IN??? It's not too late to donate!

Count Me In is Uthoff Valley's direct donation campaign for contributing to the PTO budget, which funds and supports programs such as field trip transportation, teacher grant programs, and many UV events. Recent examples of PTO purchases include the exterior security cameras, new rotunda and library furniture, chrome books, outdoor benches and picnic tables, and leveled library, just to name a few. Without your help, none of this would be possible!

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000. If every family at Uthoff donates at least $30, this goal will be reached! But any donation amount given is greatly appreciated! No amount is too small! We hope this fundraiser is easy for all; no door to door selling, or asking co-workers to buy pizza or cookies!

To see more examples of how the Count Me In campaign has helped at Uthoff, and to see incentives running through September 30th, please see the flyer sent home in Friday folders. If you would like to pay by check, please send the second page of the flyer with your check to school in an envelope marked, Count Me In. You can also donate online using PayPal by clicking HERE . We greatly appreciate your support! Thank you!
