The plan was presented and approved to the School Board at the August 17th meeting (full letter here). This document is a great resource for families and staff.
Student Meet and Greet Locations
We are excited to host a “Meet and Greet” event on Tuesday, August 24th between 11:30 AM-12:15 PM. Students can stop by at any point during this timeframe to meet the teachers and other students on their team. Each team will be located outside the perimeter of our building, near the door where students will enter the building each day. Students can say hello, ask questions about Washburne, and enjoy a popsicle courtesy of our PTO.
Please see the image below to see the location for your child’s team.
First Day of School: Wednesday, August 25th: 8:30am-11:50am
Please remember that the first day of school is a half day for student attendance. Lunch will not be served at school on this date. Students will start the day with their advisory and will have a chance to see all of their teachers and visit their classrooms with a modified schedule. There will be bus service on this date.

Student Entrance Locations
Similar to last year, Washburne will have four entrance locations for students based on their team. Doing so allows us to reduce the number of students entering the building at any particular location.
Please keep in mind the following regarding our entrance procedures:
Students should not be dropped off prior to 8:15 AM.
Doors will open at 8:20 AM so that students can drop off items at their lockers before heading to advisory.
The school day begins at 8:30 AM. Any students who arrive after 8:30 will need to enter through the main entrance and sign in at the office.
Please remember that Oak St. is one way, westbound, between 8:00AM-4:00PM. If dropping off a student on Oak, please make sure to drop them off on the north side of the street. If you are dropping off your child on Elm St., please use the south side of the street. Doing so will prevent students from needing to cross the road at a busy time and prevent accidents.
Please see the map below for entrance locations:
Interscholastic Sports Parent Information Meeting
Washburne is excited to return to play with our interscholastic sports. Starting in the fall, we will have Girls Volleyball (7th and 8th grade) and Coed Cross Country (6th, 7th, and 8th grade).
Participation in any Washburne sport requires students to be registered online and for a current copy of their physical (or medical clearance form) to be on file at the school. If you have any questions, please reach out to AndyBecker@winnetka36.org.
Washburne’s Athletic Director, Andy Becker, will be hosting an informational parent Zoom meeting for Washburne Sports on Wednesday, August 25th at 6:00pm (Zoom Meeting Link). This meeting will cover everything you need to know regarding sports this year.
