Have a Great Weekend!

Dear Kennebunk High School Families:

I hope that you all have a fantastic February vacation. If you are going away please travel safely! We will see everyone again on the 27th of February.

Good luck to our participants in the play this weekend. Also, good luck to our athletes who are competing this week in playoffs and championships.

When entering the building during school hours visitors will be required to scan their license into our Indent-a-Kid software. This is a precaution that all schools are required to abide by.

Maine Principals Association Principal Award

Kennebunk High School senior Chloe Matthews has been selected as the winner of the 2022-2023 Maine Principals Association Principal’s Award. This award is given annually to a senior from each high school who displays excellence in academic achievement and citizenship.

“Chloe is a tremendous student, person, and friend to many. When thinking about the selection of this award Chloe instantly came to mind,” said Principal of Kennebunk High School, Jeremie Sirois. “She is kind, compassionate, and when she moves on to her next adventure it will be a tremendous loss to Kennebunk High School. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Chloe.”

Matthews has achieved academic success throughout her career, having excelled in many International Baccalaureate, post-secondary, Honors, and college level classes. She is a two-sport athlete participating in swimming and lacrosse. Chloe is a member of the National Art Honor Society, Peer Helpers, Yearbook, Girl Talk, and is an intern in the Athletic Department.

Chloe will be attending Union College and plans to major in Marketing & Visual Arts. She will also compete on the swimming team.

Chloe along with the recipients from every high school in Maine will be honored at the Maine Principals’ Association banquet on April 1. Each recipient is eligible for one of several $1,000 scholarships.

Poetry Out Loud

Sophomore Willow Knowles placed first in our school's Poetry Out Loud event in December. She moved on to compete in the Southern Maine Poetry Out Loud event this past Monday in Portland and is one of five finalists who will move on to the State competition in Lewiston on March 2nd. Congratulations Willow!

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. Poetry Out Loud is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, and the state and jurisdictional arts agencies.
