Important Information about House Bill 4545 Tutorials
In the 2021 Legislative Session, House Bill 4545 was passed which required all students in third grade through high school to have thirty hours of tutoring for each STAAR/ EOC test not passed. BISD responded by making adjustments to the schedule to include time within the school day for tutoring. The Texas Education Agency has provided a list of approved vendors as curriculum providers to work with districts to deliver high-impact tutoring. In the next week, BISD will implement this high-impact tutoring with students in grade six through twelve. Learn more about FEV Tutor and the BISD tutoring program here and at fevtutor.com.

Crisis Counselor's Corner
Starting next week, we will be launching an additional Social Emotional Curriculum that will be in addition to our monthly Take Care Thursday lesson and our daily Rhithm check ins. Yes, that’s how the company spells Rhithm ;). We will be launching the program initially during lunches on Fridays. The 7 Mindsets curriculum is aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy, developmental research on how students encounter and work with knowledge. In grades K-12, students will be given the opportunity to remember and understand the mindsets and learning objectives. The curriculum is designed to progress intentionally, leading to the application and evaluation of what they have learned. The alignment to Bloom’s Taxonomy ensures that your K-12 students completely grasp, understand, and implement the 7 Mindsets to better meet their present challenges and live their ultimate lives. (7Mindsets.com) 7 Mindsets also targets 10 Social and Emotional Learning Competencies for students. The program is designed to intentionally develop these competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Decision-Making, Resilience, Growth Mindset, Empathy, Cultural Competence, and Hope.
Students have been struggling with the transition back to school-academically, socially, and emotionally. It is our sincere hope that by implementing this program, along with Take Care Thursday and Rhithm, that it will help your child in all aspects of their student life and personal life. Look for more information to come on this program and more!

Electronic Cigarettes and Tobacco Products
Along with being against the law, the products have been shown to lead to possible health issues. Our main priority is to keep students as safe as possible while at school. In doing so, we will be vigilant in dealing with students in possession.
CHS is a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free zone.
Yearbook Information for Seniors
1. In order to be featured on the portrait pages of the yearbook, seniors MUST have their photo taken by Glamourcraft. The session is free, but you must book an appointment. These sessions book up quickly and they are limited due to COVID restrictions. You can book online at Glamourcraft or call (817) 292-8989. Photos must be taken by November 12th.
2. Senior Quotes are due by November 5th. There is no fee to have a senior quote in the yearbook, but students must fill out a Google Form that will be sent to them in their email. We must have 80% of the senior class participate in order to print the quotes in the yearbook. Quotes are given on a first come, first serve basis, so the quicker they submit the more likely they are to get what they want. Encourage them to take care of this as soon as the form is sent out.
3. If you would like to purchase a Senior Ad, you can do so online at balfour.com or by sending information to Mrs. Miller (laura.miller@bisdmail.net). All payments are due by November 12th. If you are creating the ad yourself, completed content is due on December 3rd. If you would like the Yearbook Staff to create your ad, all photos and information is due by November 12th. Here is the Senior Ad Form.
4. Obviously you don't want to do all this and then not purchase a yearbook! They are currently the cheapest they will ever be ($75) right now. Go to balfour.com to purchase your copy of your senior memories for this year.
