Principal's Update
December 7, 2015
Almost there...
Happy Monday! Can you believe we only have nine more days until the winter break? Wow! The first semester has flown by! Here is some information for you from the Leadership Team and some calendar items. Have a great week!
Can Collection
The final count is in! This is the best turn in Dr. Holeman can remember in her 15 years at Sullivan! Great job everyone!
On Monday, students will get a dress down day. Faculty will be in school dress code (We have already heard several of you saying what you plan to wear---thanks ever so much for your tremendous support!). We have belts available if you forget to wear yours... You have a whole week to plan your attire. Please be sure you follow the student handbook ;-) and look in your agenda for what we will be wearing! We will also place announcements on FNN in case you forget.
Teachers will have jean day on Friday as usual (the payment for this Friday is 5 cans as designated in the information provided by Mrs. Lindsey at the beginning of the year). You can still turn those in if you have not already done so!
We will also give you an addition jean day on Tuesday, December 15 so you can wear jeans and some festive attire for our annual Christmas luncheon prepared by Mrs. Lindsey's sister.
Hour of Code on Wednesday
Please check your email for Hour of Code details from Mrs. Kenyetta Mitchell. She has an exciting day planned for our students focusing on the importance of coding as a language being part of each student's educational experience. Thanks, Mrs. Mitchell and coding students for leading us on Wednesday!
8th Grade Community Projects
Wednesday marks our first opportunity to meet with our students in 8th grade to develop a plan for their MYP community projects. I hope you are as excited as I am about helping our students design and implement their projects. Please make sure you have set up a time to meet with your students on this Wednesday as the calendar states. You should have a folder for each of your students that you will mentor.
In-school basketball game Thursday
This Thursday marks our first of two in-school basketball games this year. Tickets should go on sale today and students can purchase tickets until Thursday game time. Mrs. Lindsey has sent out the procedures and schedule for the day a few weeks ago, but I will send them out again today for you to make sure you don't hav eany questions. Please remember our goal is to get all our kids to the game to support their fellow students/ teams in unison so please encourage them to purchase their ticket. All tickets are $2 this year and remain the same price for the entire period until the game begins.
Spirit Wear Days for Students
This week, we will allow students to have two spirit days. Students can wear their Falcon attire on Wednesday as usual and also on game day this Thursday to support their Falcons! Also, on game days, please remind our athletes that they should wear a dress code shirt under their uniforms. We have seen a few non-school color t-shirts and regular t-shirts. Please ask an administrator if school attire under a particular uniform might be difficult so we can make an exception if needed.
Celebrating the Arts
We have our orchestra, band, and chorus concerts coming up this week and next week. Please make an effort to support these wonderful programs as your schedule allows. The dates and times for each concert are listed below. Thanks to all of our music instructors for the great job you do musically with our students!
