What Is Advent?

Advent is here! Jesus is coming!

Today is the First Sunday of Advent – a special time when we get ready for the coming of Jesus. Jesus asks us all to keep watch for him so that we will be ready when he comes.

Jesus came the first time long ago in Bethlehem. Now HE comes to us every time we go to mass, in Holy Communion. We celebrate Jesus’ coming in a special way at Christmas time.

Advent is the time to get ready for Christmas. We get our houses ready by cleaning and decorating. We get our souls ready by cleaning out our sins when we go to confession, and by learning and thinking about Jesus.

Colder Weather

As the days get shorter, the snow begins to fall and the temperatures drop, here's a friendly reminder to make sure your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoors. Students will be required to go outside for recess until the temperature reaches an outside temperature of -25C (this includes the wind chill). Students should have a warm coat and boots, as well as gloves/mitts, toques and snow pants.

Library Corner

As some of our students move online for a few weeks, remember to find some time to read a good book! The 7 & 8’s had an opportunity to take out extra books this week so they will have lots of reading material. Can’t wait to see all your faces in person again in January!

Stay safe!!
