Reminder: Students Must Pass the STAAR EOC In Order To Graduate
All five STAAR EOC assessments required for graduation—Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History—are administered at the end of the first semester (fall), at the end of the second semester (spring), and in the summer, giving students three testing opportunities each year.
There are three cut scores on STAAR assessments, which separate student performance into four categories. For the STAAR program, the labels for the performance categories are
• Masters Grade Level (passing)
• Meets Grade Level (passing)
• Approaches Grade Level (passing)
• Did Not Meet Grade Level (not passing)
EOC Testing Dates at Legacy
April 6 - English I
April 8 - English II
May 4 - US History & Algebra I *New date*
May 5 - Biology
What if my student is a senior and has not passed all five (5) EOC exams?
In order to graduate, a student in Texas public schools must meet the requirements below:
-The student must complete all coursework required for graduation.
-The student is required to pass five assessments known as State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
Due to the passage of Senate Bill 149, Texas has enacted a new law which requires school districts to establish an Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) for each 12th grade student who fails to perform satisfactorily on an End-of-Course (EOC) assessment a second time. This committee will determine if your child qualifies to graduate through an alternative method.
*If your 12th grade student has not passed all 5 EOC exams, a Legacy counselor will contact you to set up an Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) meeting soon.
