Mass Readings for Sunday, April 18: Third Sunday of Easter
In this weekend's Gospel, Luke shares another account of Jesus appearing to the disciples. As He greets his friends, Jesus reassure the disciples that He is not a ghost, but the same as before, though in a new state. The strongest proof of this identity are His wounds, a clear sign that ‘that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day’. Yet they are also signs that ‘repentance and the forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations.’ Death and life are closely linked, yet life has the last word.
Jesus tells the disciples that they are to be His witnesses. He asks that of us too. We pray to be faithful witnesses of the Resurrection and of the Good News about the forgiveness of sins. Like the Apostles, we only witness what we have experienced, and we ask for a heart open to Jesus’ presence in our lives.

Project IMT
Former US President, Donald Trump, halted the issuing of Green Cards until the end of 2020. He did this because he said it would protect the job market for US citizens due to COVID-19. On December 31, 2020 when this order was supposed to expire he extended it until the end of March 2021. Since the incumbent president, Joe Biden, took office he has lifted that freeze on Green Cards.
Biden stated in his proclamation that “shutting the door on legal immigrants does not advance the interest of the US. To the contrary, it harms the United States by preventing certain family members of US citizens and lawful permanent residents from joining their families here. It also harms industries in the US that utilize talent from around the world.” - Joe Biden, 46th US President
