Required Summer Reading 2015
Unami Middle School
What is the purpose of summer reading?
The purpose of summer reading is to encourage in each student a lifelong love of reading. By choosing books students will enjoy and by reinforcing and inviting students to cogitate on their reading, we hope to engage and entertain as well as communicate the joys of participating in a lively, interactive community of fellow readers.
Requirements
All students entering grades seven, eight, and nine must read at least two books over the summer.
Incoming 7th Graders' Requirements
All Unami 7th graders are required to read two books.
One of the books must come from this list.
The other book must be Wonder by RJ Palacio. If, however, you have already read Wonder, the second one is a free choice of any book that is on your reading level.
Incoming 8th Graders' Requirements
All Unami 8th graders are required to read two books. One of the books must come from this list, with the exception of Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie. Please DO NOT read Drums, Girls or Dangerous Pie. Unami will be working with this book during the 2016 Summer and we'd like it to be a fresh read for students.
The other is a free choice of any book that is on your reading level.
Incoming 9th Graders' Requirements
Where can I get the books?
- Local bookstores have been advised of Central Bucks' summer reading list and should be well stocked with the titles.
- If you would like to purchase these books (or any items) through Amazon, please start your shopping trip through this fundraising link and you will be helping the Unami Library.
- A limited number of books will be available to be borrowed from the Unami library over the summer. These books will be housed in Unami's main office. The office's summer hours are: Monday-Thursday from 7:15AM to 4 PM.
- Some of the titles are available either as Ebook or Audiobook through Unami library's Follett Shelf collection. You can access these digital copies through the Brytewave App and directions can be found at http://cbsd.org/Page/14854 .
- Similarly, public libraries have these titles available as well.
