Dear Falcon Community,
Thank you for all your support, patience and flexibility as we began the school year in home learning. Although there were some bumps during our first few days, we are so proud of how hard our students are working and it has been great to see their faces! We look forward to continuing to partner with you in the learning process. Next week we will be holding two parent information sessions to guide you with the technology use as you support your students. See below for details.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Beginning of the Year Assessments Begin Tuesday, 9/1
Students will take the iReady fall benchmark assessment on Tuesday, September 1st. Please see this letter for more information.
What should students do between 8:45 and 9:15 each day?
During this time each day, students will complete work independently. Next week, students will complete iReady on 9/2-9/4 if they don't finish during class. Otherwise, this is time for students to get ready for the day or complete other work that they need to finish. More information will come about the online tools that students will utilize during this time in the future.
Reminder about our Phase 1 Schedule
As a reminder, in Phase 1: Home Learning, middle level students will take 3 classes for the first 8 weeks (periods 1, 2 and 3 on their schedules). They will attend each of these classes everyday. After these 8 weeks, students will take periods 4, 5 and 6 for 8 weeks.

The five steps identified below solve many of the issues you will experience. If these steps do not resolve your issue, call 720-561-HELP.
Restart your device.
With all basic troubleshooting, this should always be step number one. Closing the lid does not shut a device down. Make sure you click “shut down” or “restart” or hold down the power button.
Charge your device. If the device won’t turn on, plug it in to a charger and leave it for 15 minutes. Do not try to restart the device until 15 minutes have passed.
Verify your wireless connection. Check that you are connected to a wireless network.
Update your device operating system. When your Chromebook downloads a software update, at the bottom right, look for the “Update available” notification.
Reset your device. If all else fails and you have a Chromebook, you can reset your device by doing the following:
a. Sign out of your Chromebook
b. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r
c. Select Restart
d. In the box that appears, select “Powerwash,” then “Continue.”
e. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your BVSD Google Account
f. Once you’ve reset your Chromebook:
i. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your Chromebook
ii. Check if the problem is fixed
