CTE in ACTION
What a tremendous team effort by the Hillary, Matt, Dusti, Matt, Dawn, Austin, Terri, Kathi, Deb, and Deb McLean. While not without a few challenges, this team with a few volunteers (Matt Koehler, Amy Stapleton, soon-to-be FFA members and a few alumni) conduct the first ever online sale and distribute almost all the product by the end of the day Wednesday on behalf of the FFA members.
Students have competed using the ANATOMAGE table which is a 3D interactive computer table with all aspects of the human body. The company has selected a few schools to pilot their new online tool during the closure. Adv Sports Med students got a guided tour on Zoom. Students will get to access this resource to demonstrate competency of standards and assist in meeting Dual Credit requirements.
Continuation of Learning
- Great job continuing to engage our students. Without a doubt, it is tough! Stay positive and remember they need you.
- I am working with the community colleges to ensure our Dual Credit articulations remain in place if the standards/competencies can be delivered according to the articulation. Your evaluation of student achievement will be critical in awarding college credit.
- I have heard from many of you concerned that you may be asking too much from your students. Continue to reflect on the activities and resources you provide and ways students can demonstrate their learning. Less can be more!
- Grading...lots of good ideas being shared. If you need another ear to bounce off your thoughts or concerns, let me know. Happy to talk through the issues.
As I mentioned at our CTE Meeting, please be looking for online professional development opportunities, especially in the area of STEM for OSPI certificate renewal. Build these into your DWP, but also send me any trainings that you find for this spring or summer. Many of our traditional conferences may be canceled or move to a virtual experience also. I will list ones I learn about. If you are interested, contact Terri Evans to assist with registration and approvals.
- ANEW’s 2020 Diversity & Inclusion Summit – Virtual event series with 2 award-winning keynotes and 7 engaging workshops starting Tuesday, May 12. ANEW is dedicated to improving the access and advancement of women in non-traditional career pathways such as construction and manufacturing. ANEW continues to focus on equity and inclusion in the construction industry for both women and people of color.
- WA-ACTE Summer Conference - pending but likely online
