CMS Parent Update
January 27, 2023

Chardon Middle School
CMS Families,
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day with a PTO-sponsored event on Friday, February 10.
Fourth and fifth graders will have the opportunity to exchange valentines in school during our classroom party on the afternoon of Friday, February 10. For those students who wish to participate, valentines should be prepared for every child in their homeroom.
If your child would like to exchange valentines, here are some important announcements:
Please have your child write only his/her name on the valentines; leave the "TO" line empty. (This will ensure that there is enough time to distribute valentines in the time allotted.) Homeroom teachers will share the number of students in the class in their next update.
Please have your child decorate a fun box or bag to collect valentines.
If your child would like to attach candy to the valentine, that is fine! Teachers will share allergy information in their next update.
Due to space limitations, please wait to send in valentines and bags/boxes until the day of the party, 2/10/23.
Drop Off Numbers
THANK YOU for following the drop-off procedures this past week. The weather was a factor however, when the procedures are followed we can manage the volume of cars dropping off students. To give some perspective click HERE to see a chart detailing the number of cars we manage on a daily basis.

7th grade athletes interested in running track this spring, please fill out the above Google Form, and complete all paperwork on Final Forms. The Google Sheet above has a link to Final Forms.
Chardon Goes to the Musicals
Cleveland's own Playhouse Square is the second-largest theater district outside of Broadway. Over the years, Chardon Goes to the Musicals has sold hundreds of tickets. This is a reminder that this is not a fundraiser but a way for community members to obtain tickets at discounted prices.
Click the links below for order forms.
Book Fair II
PLEASE NOTE: We are obligated to collect sales tax for all purchases made during the Fair, regardless of the shopper, product, or payment method. There is only one exception: no sales tax for purchases made by the school with school funds for the school's use.

Candy Grams
Candy Grams
Student Council is preparing our winter fundraiser and will be selling Candy Grams at lunch during the week of February 6th-10th. They will be priced at $1 each or, for a nicer option, $4 each, and all will include a small personalized card filled out by the sender. They will be delivered on Tuesday, February 14th.
Note: Student Council felt it was important for ALL students to receive a gram, so they will be delivering one to each CMS student on Valentine's Day along with the purchased grams - this is a SECRET, though, so please don't mention it to your student.
