Seesaw Communication
Seesaw Family Access
We hope that you found success sharing your Family Access information during Open House. As the year gets underway, it's important to continue reminding families how to sign up if they haven't already. You can see which parents have signed up and who you still need to contact by following these quick steps:
- Sign in with your WCASD login
- Select the wrench icon in the upper right corner
- Scroll down to the Families section and select "Manage Families"--this will show you the families who have and have not signed up
- Then select the blue button, "+Invite Families"
- Send the sample email by copying and pasting the directions under "Please Sign Up Now", or copy the whole message, or print the paper invites!
When is it best to send an announcement as opposed to posting to the student journal?
Announcements in Seesaw are similar to email communication. All correspondence between you as the teacher and your families should be communicated as an announcement. Only artifacts of student work are to be posted to student journals. One way to think about this is that the student's journal (portfolio) will carry with them from year to year, so it should only include learning that demonstrates student growth.
How to Send an Announcement
- Select the green "+" and select "Send Announcement"
- Choose to send to parents and/or students
- Choose to type the announcement directly into the text box, or upload an attachment including: Photos, Video, drawings, notes, links, or files (including Google Docs)
- Once sent families and/or students will receive a notification on their "Inbox" icon. They can then view your announcement. All announcements remain in the inbox--just like email!
How to Post to Student Journal
- To send: Select the green "+" and select "Post to Student Journal"
- Option to send to all students or select individual/small group of students
- Families receive notification that item has been added to their child's journal
- Post a photo, video, drawing, note, link or file (including Google Doc) to students' journals
Send a Video!
Post a video of student work or send it as an announcement to share with families.
Send Pictures!
Send up to 10 photos by posting to student journals or send as an announcement.
This teacher sent photos of the books they read this week to share conversation starters for families!
Upload a File!
Upload your newsletter from Word, Google Drive, or as a PDF.
Demo Students have been added!
Demo students have now been added to all classes! Their purpose is for you to view your changes from a student perspective. The demo account will have your school's logo next to it which will help to decipher it from student accounts.
