The Week of August 5th
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BAME
Dear Laurel Park Families,
Today our track 4 Kindergarten students enjoyed their first full day of school! Our older students were amazing role models, helping students find their classrooms and buses. We are always excited to celebrate moments when our students embody the #OtherPeopleMatter mindset. If you are interested in learning more about the Positivity Project please plan to attend our Parent Education sessions embedded in our Curriculum Night programming.
In addition to our P2 parent sessions, we will provide families with an overview of our AIG program (geared towards 3rd-5th grade families), Special Education FAQs, Expeditionary Learning (ELA) curriculum, and helpful internet safety guidelines for tweens. We hope that these sessions will help bridge the school-to-home gap that sometimes occurs in our busy lives.
Curriculum Night Dates:
Tracks 1 & 2 = August 6th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm (sign up below for Tracks 1/2)

Welcome Mr. Barabasz - New AP!
First Lego League
4th and 5th grade parents,
- Do you have a 4th and/or 5th grader that enjoys Legos?
- Does your child have an interest in robotics and programming?
- Does he/she enjoy solving real-world problems?
- If you answered “yes” to these questions, your child would love to be part of First Lego League!
We are holding a parent information session on Tuesday, August 13 at 5:30 pm in the media center to provide you with lots of information about what is really involved with coaching (no prior experience necessary, it’s not as hard as you may be thinking!) We rely on parent volunteers to coach teams, and we will need 2 coaches per team (6 children per team). We will also have a few students who participated last year show parents and interested students exactly how the robots work. Please join us!! There is still plenty of room and time for your child to participate!
Thank you,
Liz Fickler & Caroline D'Aurelio
