Welcome our new custodian Mr. Kravitz to the MRHS Family!
The Custodial dept. would like to welcome John Kravitz to Monomoy Regional H.S. We are excited to have such a motivated and enthusiastic person to add to our team. Without a doubt, John will be an excellent addition to what is already a great custodial team!
Welcome aboard!
John Kravitz is 25 years old and was born and raised in Marstons Mills. Before moving to Harwich, he was previously employed at the Town of Barnstable as a custodian/ground keeper where he spent 3 years. In his spare time, he loves to play sports, fish, hike, and travel and would love to be able to coach baseball one day. He looks forward to his time here and to meeting each and every one of you.
Shark "Shout Outs" MRHS's way of Appreciating the Great People That Make Our School "A Home Away From Home" Please share any good news with us!
Dear Mr. Burkhead,
This evening we had the delightful experience of attending the Annual Spring Concert and Art Show presented by the Monomoy Visual and Performing Arts Department.
We want to issue a “shout out” to Ms. Donovan, Ms. Richard and their instructional colleagues and all of the students whose art work was displayed and/or who performed so admirably at this year’s event!
We were among a large group of members of the Chatham-Harwich Newcomers Club in attendance. Most of the Club members have no direct connection with any of the current students. We attend because of the high quality experience of the arts that your students and staff always provide that we have come to appreciate.
This year’s Spring event was no exception. We continue to marvel at the level of artistic and musical talent that the instructional staff has helped your students develop! From the perspective of a professional musician, the nearly flawless performance of the very challenging arrangements that were performed by the student musicians and vocalists has to be rated as nothing short of remarkable!
For the audience, the entire experience was extremely entertaining! Certainly the “best entertainment for the buck” available anywhere in our opinion!
We offer highest accolades to the students and their teachers for the amazing talent they put on display. All should feel extremely proud!
The community should feel tremendous pride in the high level of performance in so many areas demonstrated by the students of the Monomoy School District through the leadership of the administration and entire school staff!
Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing the results of your efforts with the community much to our delight!
With sincere appreciation,
Charles and Kathleen Gruszka,
Harwich residents
Shark Shout Out to Katerina Ganshaw is a very focused and skilled “Best Buddy” to all of the students in Mrs. Waystack’s Foundations of Art (D Block) class this semester! I had the pleasure of substituting for Mrs. Waystack, and Katie not only helps her Best Buddy, but clarifies instructions and guides the other students in the class as well! Great work Katie! Thank you! Ms. McMahon
I would like to extend a tremendous thank you to Danielle Andreasson, Katie Dever, and Edward Goggin for providing child care for last night's event. They were all respectful and responsive; best of all, the kids said they were a lot of fun! I also received some praise from work for thinking outside the box to enlist their help! If they need any sort of letter from me to acknowledge their community service, I am happy to provide it for them.
Thank you again,
Melissa
A few Shark Shout Outs! To:
Jon Bennett for staying on top of all the AP testing -- he's been a man on the go since it started!
Rachel Barnes for being the calm and reasonable person that she inevitably is -- a paragon of professionalism.
Mike Martin for so smoothly handling the MCAS procedures, grouping and scheduling the 8th graders so ably.
Alison Burton for staying on top of a students' medical issues to make sure that her needs at school are met.
All my 8th graders for dealing with the stresses of MCAS testing with so little fuss.
Emma Burke and Sophie Clingan, for putting the "independent" in Independent Study in AP Psychology.
All my seniors, who are so hard at work on their final research papers -- I will miss them all!
Matt Brown
A shout out for Stacy Yarnell for doing a great job with the Dating Violence seminar. A very tough subject to discuss but also very important. The students in the discussion group that Stacy led did a wonderful job as well being respectful & thoughtful.
Dave Alexander
On Monday May 14, the senior class attended a presentation from the Harwich police/fire department that talked about drugs, alcohol, situational awareness, and fire safety. A huge shark shout out goes to Officer Clarke for helping with the organization of such an important discussion. Thank you to Officer Brickley and Lt. Smith for sharing their knowledge with the senior class.
On Tuesday May 15, MRHS introduced the Escalation workshop to the senior class for the first time. The purpose of this workshop is to educate students about potential warning signs of dating violence and how to be an active and responsible bystander. This workshop could not have been successful without the dedication and compassion of the following people. Jen Police, Caitlin Coughlin, Dave Alexander, Jon Bennett, Kelly Terrenzi, and Mary Hemeon deserve a big shark shout out for taking on such a sensitive topic and being able to talk about it with the senior class. I am extremely grateful that you all agreed to help out. You do make a difference!!
For the past two weeks, the junior class members of the Game Change group have been speaking to the entire 8th grade class about the importance of healthy relationships and how to be an active bystander at MRHS. A shout out to the following teachers who have kindly given up their classrooms in order to make this happen. Ms. Manning, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Matheson, and Mrs. Barnes, thank you for your generosity, it is truly appreciated!
Also, thank you to Mr. Alexander, Mr. Brown, Mrs. Doyle, Ms. Creedon, and Mr. Bates for allowing the Escalation workshop to be held in your classrooms. I am grateful for your teamwork and flexibility.
Ms. Yarnall
