December Third Grade Newsletter
A Note From The Teachers
Thank you to all the families who made it out to our SOL Reading Night. Information about DRA levels, SOL test, and the third grade curriculum was shared. Please be on the lookout for a flier with information on our next SOL night, which will focus on math.
We are so pleased with all the progress we are seeing in reading. Many students have developed reading skills which will help them continue to increase their DRA reading levels. However, many students are still below grade level. It is crucial that we continue to work together to get them to a DRA level 40 by the end of the year!
When reading to your child at home, please be sure you are actively participating. You can watch the short YouTube video, " Nightly Reading Homework: Best Practices for Parents" which shows you ways to enhance nightly reading at home. Please let your child's teacher know if you would like to set up a meeting to further discuss ways you can help at home.
Thank you,
The Third Grade Team
