"Captivating Every Student, Every Day!"
An Attitude of Gratitude Rocks!
Many, many thanks to those of you who's classrooms required work over the holidays. Over and over again, School Plant individuals raved about what a great staff we have and how kind everyone has been through this process. Your patience during this time was deeply appreciated! LAM
Thank you to Stephanie Piron and Terri Hawley for seeing the gifts in all of our students, believing in them, and being able to ignite their "spark" in learning! Thank you to our amazing 5th grade teachers for churning out all the middle school registration recommendation forms practically overnight, in addition to all the AVID, MYP, Kemps letters of recommendations! You all are rock stars! Lisa Lee
Karen Francis, you ROCK! Thanks again for labeling and bagging all the books for the Humphrey project! What would we do without our Fifi? Jan Roewer
Kudos to Nancy L., Nana, Brooke, & Karen L. for their assistance covering all of the technology prior to the break. Giant thanks also to Nana and Karen L for coming in on Jan. 2 to help reconnect all the computers. LAM
I would like to thank Melinda Pezzella for being so organized and her foresight for looking ahead and planning over the winter break. She has been a delight to work with and is helping our grade level immensely! I want to thank Brooke for taking the time to help out in our grade level collaboration and helping to keep us focused and organized. Also thank to Jan Roewer for meeting with us an additional day to go over our reading assessments. Kathy Dungan
I want to thank Jenny Delashmutt, Courtney Goffigan, and Katie Schatti for their professionalism in how they are dealing with some challenging situations. You are both great examples of teachers who are willing to put a student's need before your own. It is truly inspiring to be around such empathy and kindness. Thank you. Also, a huge thank you to the office staff, Nancy Kurz, Terry Hill, Michele Flynn, and Butch Ellis. You have all been a tremendous support in helping me get settled in as part of the Trantwood family. Karen Lewis
I want to thank Coop for all of his assistance with my classroom when I was packing and rearranging. He went above and beyond and I am very grateful. Melinda Pezzella
Fabulous job Nancy L., Brooke, and Jan kicking off our whole school reads program. We are loving Humphrey and our learning community is happier reading about him together! LAM

Google Expeditions:
Google is looking for educators and partners to create lesson plans that integrate Expeditions using the lesson template from the Expeditions training unit. We are working with TES to house all of the Expeditions lessons (search for #GoogleExpeditions) that teachers create, making it easier for educators to find and share great lessons.
If you're interested in helping us create lessons, I've attached the instructions for how to create a lesson and upload them to TES. If you do decide to participate, please complete this form and let us know so we can look to promote the lessons on our social channels and don't forget to include your Twitter handle!

SchoolNet Update
New features will be added to Schoolnet at the end of the business day Jan. 13. Highlighted features are listed below and are accessible to all administrators, teachers and staff.
Text to Speech – Text to Speech is supported through TestNav and all assessments created after the upgrade will have the Text to Speech option automatically selected. Any assessments created prior to the upgrade that need this accommodation must have Text to Speech manually selected in Test Properties. To generate this feature, which will require additional processing time, select Generate Text to Speech prior to previewing or select Publish to TestNav. Additionally, students who require this accommodation will need Text to Speech selected on their TestNav PNP tab located on the Student Profile page.
Gap Match Item Type – A new technology-enhanced item that allows for all or nothing scoring is now available through TestNav.
Analysis Spreadsheet – This spreadsheet can be created through Classrooms and School & District Data modules and has been updated to allow filtering, hiding and pinning of columns.
Standards Performance – A new report has been added to the Classrooms module to provide teachers the ability to compare multiple assessments with the same standards set. This report displays bar charts of overall class performance based on specific standards with the ability to select individual objectives and preview individual student performance.
The Teacher Schoolnet Resources document has been updated to display and link instructional materials pertaining to the new release. All new or updated materials will indicate 18.1 in green. Additional information can also be found on What’s New in Schoolnet located on the MySchoolnet homepage.
Kudos to the ENTIRE TRANTWOOD STAFF for embracing the Humphrey Read Aloud. I know how valuable your time is and I thank you so much for appreciating the gift from the VBEF and also for the school spirit you are spreading. Teachers, without your enthusiasm, this would not be possible! Thank you for sharing with me; students have been telling me all about it and it makes my heart happy! Jan
