For ALL English I students (Petersen, Dorneker, and Hamilton)

All English I students will start reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee on Monday, February 3rd. This reading will be completed outside of class for homework and will take the place of the Reading Journal for April. Because students will be looking for specific information throughout their reading, it is ideal that students have their own copy to make notes and underline quotes for textual evidence during Socratic seminars and quick writes. If buying a copy of this book is a problem for your child, s/he will be able to checkout a copy and will be taught how to write out the necessary notes and textual evidence.

EXPEDITION UPDATE: I AM THE CHANGE

This year's 8th grade expedition is titled, "I am the Change." Our students will explore the following questions throughout the year:

What is change? Why change? How is change brought about?

Math: All math classes participated in a kick off to their case study last week. These students are collecting data to determine if practice time (homework and studying) affects performance on assessments. As they gather this data for the next few units, students will reflect upon trends and patterns revealed. Students are reminded to continue to record their practice times on their individual student logs.

Thank you for sharing your children with us each day!
