Endeavour School August 6th, 2021
A Message From Mrs Campbell
Tēnā koutou,
It has been a great start to Term 3! Everyone was very excited to arrive last Monday morning to discover the amazing new playground markings throughout our school.
A huge thanks to the Friends of Endeavour for organising for these fantastic, bright, colourful additions to our playground spaces! Despite all the wet weather they have been very well used during break times, as well as being the focus of PE lessons over the past 2 weeks.
Lots of exciting learning is underway at Endeavour this term. In Hakarimata Team (LC1&2) there is a focus on the health curriculum and the Firewise programme. The students are busy identifying hazards, what to do to keep safe and who is here to help us. (There is a surprise visit coming up from our local firefighters!)
Hangawera Team (LC3&4) have an Inquiry focus based around the past, present and future. They are inquiring across all curriculum areas into how technology has evolved. They are also enjoying lots of fun learning opportunities at the moment centred around The Olympics.
Taupiri Team (LC5&6) have some inspirational whakataukī linked closely to their learning. In LC5 they are focusing on a range of curriculum in the contexts of storytelling, health and nutrition and technology and in LC6 space, nature and pop culture.
Across our school this term much of our learning centres around the attribute of RESILIENCE and how we demonstrate this as an Endeavour Explorer.
This is the whakataukī which is inspiring LC6 to think about how we can develop resilience in ourselves and as a member of a team:
I ōrea te tuātara ka puta ki waho
A problem is solved by continuing to find solutions
It is an especially good time to consider how we develop resilience in our students as we look forward to our 2021 Endeavour Cross Country in 2 weeks (Tuesday 17th August). We can identify what it really looks like to push through difficulties, accept defeats and celebrate successes in the way our NZ Athletes participate in the Olympics.
We are looking out for excellent examples of Endeavour Explorers and Citizens who are willing to keep trying when things get challenging and are quick to support others who may need it. More details about our Cross Country will be shared soon, keep your eyes out for information about approximate times for each Year Group’s race.
I’m looking forward to seeing lots of our whaanau on Cross Country Day!

What's Been Happening?
Potential of Poetry
Last week we hosted a Waikato Literacy Association Event, with acclaimed author and educator Jill Eggleton. Her focus presentation was the “Potential of Poetry” and how to embrace a love of reading and writing through the lens of poetry. It was such a treat for our staff attendees. We also won a pack of her poetry cards as a special prize! We have a number of her poems and books used regularly in our Learning Communities.

Let's Get Firewise!
Ms Stewart’s Literacy group have been learning about how to be firewise.
We practised what to do when the fire alarm goes off at home or at school and where we should have our safe meeting place. We had a discussion about firetrucks and what they are used for. We labelled the parts of a fire truck and made edible fire trucks, they were delicious!

INTRODUCING OUR AMAZING PLAYGROUND MARKINGS!
One of our big projects from last year has finally come together following covid delays of delivery and application.
Thanks to all the support our Endeavour community gave last year with our fundraising at the Colour Run, Disco, Friday Cafe’s and more. We were able to add some fantastic playground markings to our school just in time for term 3.
Sneak peek below!
Please make the time to see all of the beautiful new additions
