Jackson Families,
UCHICAGO 5 Essentials Survey
Parents/Guardians should consider filling out the 5 Essentials Survey before February 18th. We can only improve on what we know needs to be improved upon.
The survey will only be open until February 18th!

CMAS testing -3rd, 4th, and 5th grade
CMAS testing (state testing) is coming up in April for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. While this seems a long way off, it will be here before we all know it. Stay tuned to hear more about our school's theme, dates for testing, and student testing expectations.
COVID-19
As you may know, the numbers of COVID-19 cases have risen drastically over the past few weeks. Given the number of vaccinations and boosters available for ages 5+, District 11 will be following the guidelines set by the CDC. Please refer to the District 11 Return to Learn website to answer any and all questions you may have, regarding COVID-19 guidelines. https://www.d11.org/domain/5173
It is more important now than ever to keep your child(ren) home if they have any cold-like symptoms. Please call the office each day your child(ren) is out sick at (719) 328-5800.
Cold Weather (Inclement Weather Policy)
The cold weather is coming! Please write your child's name in their coats/jackets. Every year we end up with many coats/jackets not claimed. We go out for recess at 18 degrees and above. On cold days, we ask all students to take their coats/jackets outside even if they don't want to wear them, just in case they need them. So, please remind your child(ren) to bring a coat/jacket to school during cold months.
As always, if you still have some questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Sara Miller

Media Center Moments
Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes are currently reading the Colorado Book Award nominee books. At this point we have read four books and the favorites are “The Cool Bean” and “Help Wanted – Must Love Books”. We will keep reading new titles in February and I will let you know the final winner in March. Keep on reading!
Robotics Club is meeting during lunch and recess for 4th and 5th Graders. We started by using the Dash robots (pictured) and using a programming language called Blockly. The students love getting the robots to follow their directions. Our junior programmers are doing great!

Box Tops for Education (BTFE)
Dear Jackson Families,
If you have any Box Tops lying around your home, please send them in with your child(ren). March 2022 will be the last time you can send them in and Jackson can earn money for the school.
Don't forget, you can still scan your grocery receipt and upload the photo to the app. It is very simple to use. Simply download the App by using the QR Code provided here. You follow the directions to connect it to our school. After shopping all you do is scan your receipt from the store. It will immediately credit each item to our school!
Thanks for helping your school!
