WELCOME TO PK 3.3
Open House and First Day of School
Hello PK3.3 Parents!
What a great first day we had here in PK 3.3!
We spent the morning making friends and enjoying our classroom. We sang welcome songs to wish each other well and clapped together as we took turns sharing our names. We explored our interest areas, ate our snacks together and played in the playground. At the end of the morning we re-read "Mix It Up" with the children joining in as we pressed the colored dots and shook and blew our way through the colors adventures. It was a fun and exciting day for all!
I look forward to getting to know your children more over the coming weeks and helping them develop and grow over the next year.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

OPEN HOUSE PICTURES
Dear Parents,
We are more than grateful to have had you attend our PK orientation and it was such a pleasure meeting all of you. We know how difficult it is now a days to take extra time from our busy schedules. Our goal is to build strong bridges of communication and education so that we can create a solid team to support your children in through diverse learning experiences here at ISP. As we mentioned in our presentation, we are committed to providing an educational program that is driven by our philosophy that social emotional learning is the foundation of academic and social success.
We believe that education and prevention go hand in hand and we would like to take on a project this year where we will offer some guidance and share ideas. Therefore, we will be offering specific topics each month that may be of interest to you and will play a vital role in your children’s developmental process. We hope to count with your participation and we will be sending out the scheduled dates and topics very soon.
It is not easy to soak in so much valuable and pertinent information in such little time. The idea is for you to be able to go back and review any notes, strategies or ideas that can help support you and your family in your daily life. Therefore, we are attaching the SEL presentation for you to have at hand and we hope you find it useful.
Once again thank you for attending our Orientation! We love having you on our team.
Kindly,
Alida and Katherine
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
About the Backpacks
This year we are focusing on teaching children how to become more independent and responsible with their belongings. So we encourage them to carry their lunchboxes on their own and place them inside their cubbies.
Rolling or regular backpacks with lots of things inside makes it hard for them to get their lunchboxes out by themselves. Also, we have limited space inside the classroom.
Please support us by sending your child's food and water in 1 easy to carry lunchbox.
If we need anything else, we can send you a request.
Family Pictures
As we are working on making our classroom feel more like home for our students, we invite you to send a family picture on a simple picture frame.
We will be placing them in a special in our class!
You can also send big pictures (they can be printed in bond paper) with no frame to put in out Family Tree
We encourage you to practice with them so they can share a little about their families with the class.
Parent Badge
Please stop by the Main Office to request your parent badge. You will have your picture taken and it will be sent home as soon as possible.
Bathroom Habits
Gaining independence in the bathroom is an important milestone for young children. Be aware that even when they are independent in the bathroom accidents can happen and through the learning process, their underwear might get dirty.
Staying true to our Child Protection Policy, the teachers, will help children by guiding them through the steps to clean themselves. However, we can not do it for them, unless it is a matter of illness, where we would use the support of our school nurse.
We encourage you to practice the following steps at home:

Tips for snack
Healthy lunch box full of fresh food gives your child the energy to concentrate, learn and play all day.
At the beginning of the year, kids might not eat a lot due to excitement! Not to worry, we want to encourage them to eat! So here are a few tips gathered from different resources.
- Children are happier choosing from a small range of foods. Please send just 2-3 options (example: half a sandwich and a banana; yogurt and crackers; cereal and fruit...)
- Always pack a bottle with tap water for your child to drink
- Choose foods that are simple and easy to eat
- Involve your child in planning and preparing their lunchbox – kids are more likely to try foods that they’ve been involved in selecting and making
- Make it fun to eat! Be creative and have fun with it!
