LUNCH MENU MISPRINT

Please be aware that there IS SCHOOL TOMORROW, November 1. There was a misprint in the lunch menu. Election Day is November 8.

Tomorrow's lunch will be beef and cheese tacos, turkey hot dog or yogurt.

IDEA UPDATE

The UNES PTA’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Action (IDEA) Committee is a group of caretakers who are committed to supporting and partnering w Upper Nyack and the Nyack School District at large to advance equity initiatives and outcomes for all students.

STREAM COLLECTION

Fifth grade will be working on a STREAM (Science Technology Research Engineering Art Math) project that requires the use of fabric from clothing. We are requesting donations of clean, unwanted items that are all, or mostly, made of cotton. Denim is good as well. These items will not be worn by students. Instead, students will cut and repurpose them into functional objects. Our fifth graders are learning about how Fast Fashion is killing our planet and how upcycling our clothing is one way to control the waste. The EPA estimates that more than 50% of the clothing we “donate” ends up in landfills or incinerators.

Please place donations in a bag labeled, STREAM and drop them off at school or send them in with your child.

PIE SALE FUNDRAISER

Please keep an eye out for a flyer coming home in our red folders regarding the PTA UNES Carousel Cake and Pie Fundraiser. Our PTA receives a portion of the profits from each pie/cake sold.

Orders are due by Friday, 11/4 and no orders can be accepted after this deadline. Pies/cakes will be available for pick up in front of the school on Tuesday, 11/22 (time TBD).

Gratitude Day is Coming!!! - NOVEMBER 23

Wednesday, November 23 is a half day before Thanksgiving at UNES. We are currently developing plans to organize our school community around the idea of being grateful for all we have in our lives.
