SBS Weekly Update
Sunday, February 2nd - Saturday, February 8th
Principal's Notes
This past week celebrating Catholic Schools Week was certainly busy. We started the week with a very successful Open House, celebrated Mass together with Thomas Carroll -Superintendent of Catholic Schools, enjoyed a great Variety Show and celebrated SBS at our Blue and Gold Pep Rally...a great week at SBS!
Last Tuesday we launched our first NCEA Day of Giving Campaign. Our goal this year was to raise $6,000 for three new interactive smart boards. We fell short of that goal, but I want to thank everyone who shared the page and donated. We were able to raise enough to purchase one interactive smart board and I look forward to seeing this new tool installed. If you would like to contribute to this initiative donations can be sent to the school office noted "smart boards".
We have our final winners of our 2019-2020 School Year Calendar raffle!
1/28/20 - $100.00 - Earl Hamlin
1/29/20 - $100.00 - Jennifer Buckley
1/30/20 - $100.00 - Lauren De'Simone
Our GRAND PRIZE.....
Buyer - $2,500.00 - Ken Sutherland
Seller - $2,500.00 - The Laugalis Family
Congratulations to all of our winners!
I often get questions/comments/concerns about our Calendar Fundraiser. This annual raffle is vital in providing families an opportunity to reduce their overall tuition costs, and offset the "true cost" of educating students. The true cost of educating SBS students is over $8,000 per school year, and as you know, tuition is not that high. Our Calendar fundraiser, which brings in about $90,000 per year, and our Bingo Program that brings in around $70,000 per year, directly offset this shortfall and are both very important.
Why not just charge more tuition? Our School Board works hard to keep tuition manageable for families. By offering the Calendar Raffle as an opportunity for them to reduce tuition costs helps families who need this assistance. On average 50% of our families take advantage of this by choosing to sell their calendars. Some parents choose to consider it part of tuition and include it in their tuition payments.
Thank you for your continued support!
God Bless,
Matthew Collins
