Rocket Review

Week of January 9, 2023

Notes from the Principal's Desk

What a beautiful day to start the week! Morgan kids were outside today, enjoying the sunshine, sharing smiles, and excited to be back at Morgan after the weekend away.

Report Cards should be available now in your PowerSchool account. There are additional resources to help you reach the report card listed below, along with links to How-to videos. If you are still having trouble locating your child's report card, please call: 586-797-5800 or email: officemorgan@uticak12.org.

  • Grade 6 will receive paper copies of their report card, including their elective course. All other grades can access report cards in Power School.

NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16! There will be no school a week from today in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday. Enjoy the 3-day weekend.

NWEA: Winter testing will begin on Tuesday, January 17. Students in grades k-6 are tested on Reading and Mathematics, checking on progress from the Fall 2022. Students in grades 3-6 have the option of taking Science NWEA as well. Testing will continue for two weeks to allow all students to show what they have mastered from fall to winter.

Your child's teacher can provide growth information after the NWEA testing window closes.

Book Fair: Mr. Mirovsky is hosting a winter Book Fair to benefit the Media Center. Morgan's media center has some library bound books that are older than many of Morgan's teachers! Mr. Mirovsky is working to slowly update the selection of books in Morgan's library, purchasing library bound, hardcover books that will last much longer than regular picture and chapter books. Profits from the winter book fair will further support these purchases.

Book Fair flyers will come home later this week, but there is a digital flyer and links to sign up to volunteer or put money in your child's spending account listed below.

Restaurant Week: January 23 - 27 at Cloverleaf Pizza. There is a flyer below that provides more information on this event.

Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2023: Do you know of an incoming kindergarten or Young 5 student? Registration for Fall 2023 for Kindergarten and Young 5 classes is now open on the UCS webpage. If you are thinking of having your child participate a Young 5 program, sign up now to reserve a spot. It is not too early to register!

If you have questions on registration, please reach out to the Morgan office.

Pathways to Success: Tuesday, January 17, UCS is hosting their annual Pathways to Success for students to view options for education as they move into secondary school and beyond. More information on the annual Pathways event can be found below.

Have a good week!

Big picture

As students, we have a lot of choices in the programs and services offered by our school district. It is important that we take the time to understand these options and pick the ones that best meet our interests.

The UCS Pathways to Success is an event that was created by students for students to learn more about all our schools have to offer. It is a program open to everyone, and it will be at Henry Ford II High School beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17.

For more information on what is offered, you can visit the Pathways website at uticak12.org/pathways. We hope to see you there!
