CACFP UPDATES
Application Deadlines
DUE DATES: We recommend submitting your application by:
IMPORTANT: Submitting an application after September 1, 2022, may delay advance payments and payments for claims.
December 1, 2022 ALL CACFP renewing CEs must have an approvable application submitted; CACFP renewing CEs whose applications that cannot be approved as submitted as of December 1, 2022 will be declared Seriously Deficient (SD).
- August 15, 2022 if you are notified that you are a Tier 3 Renewal, and/or if you are a Dual Sponsor (a sponsor of Centers as well as Day Care Homes).
- August 30, 2022 if you are a sponsoring organization, a Tier 2 Renewal, and/or are making significant changes to your previously approved application packet.
- September 1, 2022 if you are an independent center and/or Tier 1 renewal.

The enrollment period to sponsor new sites is currently open!
Centers and Providers may select a new sponsor, without prior approval from TDA, between June 1 and September 30 of each program year. Permanent Agreement Between Sponsoring Organization and Centers and/or Day Care Home Provider(s) signed during the open enrollment period are effective October 1 of the following program year.
Sites that are at-risk afterschool care centers ONLY (do not participate in any other component of the CACFP) may select a new sponsor, without prior approval from TDA, between June 1 and July 31 of each Program Year. Multiple updated CACFP Forms
The following CACFP-related forms have been revised to update the Nondiscrimination Statement (NDS) as implemented by USDA:
A new 2022-2023 WIC Information Flyer - English and Spanish has also been posted.
Finally, an updated CACFP Form H1625-A - 2023 Income Eligibility Guidelines for Determining Free and Reduced Price Benefits was updated and re-posted on SquareMeals. The update was to fix a typographical error. The previous version listed $2,906 as the monthly income threshold for reduced-price meal eligibility for a household size of 1. The form has been updated to reflect the correct $2,096 amount.

Now Available! Tip Sheet on Crediting Meats/Meat Alternates in Child Nutrition Programs!
This tip sheet is a part of a series of seven tips sheets that includes Crediting Fruits and Crediting Vegetables in Child Nutrition Programs (https://www.fns.usda.gov/tn/crediting-tip-sheets-child-nutrition-programs) previously released. This handy reference for Program operators across all Child Nutrition Programs (CNPs) is a simple and easy-to-use resource that highlights the basics of crediting for the meats/meat alternates component. While Program operators and staff at the local school food authority comprise of the target audience, State agencies and FNS Regional Offices may want to use the tip sheet to provide guidance and training.
