Weekly Message from Mr. Hanzeli
Hello Elger Bay Families,
Trunk or Treat THANK YOU!
My sincere gratitude to the PTA Board Members and the dozen or so families that took precious time to come and safely decorate their cars and create a really memorable Trunk or Treat for well over 300 "drive through" attendees. What was so amazing is that it was a beautiful combination of new parents, families who have been here, and even a few returning parents whose children no longer attend Elger Bay who generously donated that time. In addition, our school families came through very generously with great donations of candy to make it a special and tasty night for all who costumed up and came through. A final thank you to the SC Fire and Rescue who brought several cadets and "Sparky" to give everyone extra smiles.
November 7 Clocks "FALL" Back
Reminder next Sunday, November 7, to turn your clocks back one hour. This will give a bit more light in the morning...but our afternoons will get darker much quicker. Stay safe everyone!

Counselor's Corner
Hi EBE parents and guardians!
It is now November and with the start of a new month your kiddos will be learning about a new character trait. This month we will be talking about COURAGE. Please see the links below to access the Family Letters with ideas of how you can continue the conversation at home.
I have also created a virtual counseling office where I have resources linked for parents/guardians along with a link to request a meeting with me. I also have a page for students to access content regarding the character trait of the month and a page for teachers to connect with me. Please see the link below to visit my virtual office!
Again if you have any questions, concerns or would just like to connect with me regarding your student you can find my contact information below.
Have a great week!

Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh’s Friday Message, 10.29.21 (Repeat)
Hello Families,
This week I had the pleasure of visiting kindergarten classrooms at Stanwood Elementary. There was much excitement about pumpkins, falling leaves and the changing weather! Students had the opportunity to draw Jack-o-Lanterns — this one stood out to me and I wanted to share it with you.
The Great Shakeout
Last Thursday, more than one million Washingtonians participated in "The Great ShakeOut," the largest earthquake and tsunami drill in the world. Our entire district participated in the test of its district-wide earthquake early warning system — the first of its kind in the state. KING 5 was at Stanwood High School during the drill, you can see their news story here and the story in The Herald here.
Warm Coats for Kids
The Stanwood-Camano Food Bank’s “Warm Coats for Kids” program is well underway! Hundreds of coats have been given to students and families in our area. The program continues and serves any youth enrolled in our schools. Check out the Warm Coats Informational Flyer for more information.
Virtual Coffee with the Board
The School Board will be holding Virtual Coffee with the Board events on November 8 and 9, 2021, with morning, mid-day and evening sessions available. This is an opportunity for families and the community to interact with and meet your School Board of Directors, receive district updates, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Please remember to vote!
Ballots have been mailed to registered voters for the November 2, 2021 general election. A Snohomish County ballot drop box is located near the Stanwood library, 9701 271st St NW, and an Island County ballot drop box at 121 N.E. Camano Drive, Camano Island. Ballot drop boxes are open until 8 p.m. on Election Day. To return your ballot by mail, simply drop your ballot in a mailbox; no postage necessary. Mail-in ballots must be in the box before the last pick-up time on Election Day to be postmarked on time. To register to vote, visit votewa.gov.
CTE Parent/Guardian Input Opportunity
The Stanwood-Camano School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program is seeking parent/guardian and community input. Career and Technical Education (CTE - formerly referred to as vocational education) prepares students for life and a career after high school. Through hands-on experiences, students explore career opportunities, develop skills to prepare for those opportunities, and apply their academic, leadership, employability, and technical skills. Click here for a list of the CTE programs and courses offered in the district in grades 7-12. We are seeking your input on the program to assist us in evaluating and planning for the future.
Please take a moment to complete the survey found here. Your input will help guide our decision making for the next few years.
Calling all nurses, paramedics, medical assistants, certified nursing assistants, and EMT’s:
Have you always wanted to see what it’s like to take care of kids in a school setting? We are looking for substitute nurses and health room assistants. If you are interested, please see the posting here, or reach out to our district nurse, Mary Hoffman, mhoffman@stanwood.wednet.edu.
With the increased need for testing, contact tracing, and management of our health rooms, our district has been approved for funding assistance through the Washington State Department of Health Learn to Return program. A variety of new positions have been posted on our district website.

If Needed, Covid-19 Tests Available (Repeat)
Hello,
Covid-19 testing is available, if needed, to EBE students. This is for the convenience of our families so you don't have to make a separate appointment with your health provider. To access this, please just call the EBE office and ask for the nurse's office and we can schedule you an appointment.
We can also do a test for older students that attend Stanwood-Camano schools, but for whom it would be more convenient to test here at EBE.
Let us know how we can help.
Thank you,
Donna Hunter RN
