Learn, Lead, Succeed - Together

Welcome to Methacton's New Mobile-Friendly Newsletter!

The Methacton School District continues to search for new and responsive ways to communicate with our families and the wider Methacton community. Printed newsletters are costly, and families continue to have less time to read and consume volumes of information. We want to provide you with news in a format that allows you to learn more about what interests you, stay in the know when there's important information to share, and allow you to do all this in a way that's mobile-friendly. Enter Methacton Mobile News, a monthly newsletter for the Methacton community.

Thank you for reading - and if you can, share your feedback with me or take a brief 5-question survey.

PA School Performance Profile - What it Means for Methacton

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has unveiled the School Performance Profile (SPP), a tool that includes profiles of all public schools, charter and cyber charter schools, and career-technical centers.

The SPP will include an academic performance score for each school based on several measures of student achievement, including scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment and the Keystone Exams; closing the achievement gap; graduation rate; promotion rate; and attendance rate.

The SPP replaces Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) required under the No Child Left Behind Act as the state’s accountability measure. AYP was abolished when the state received a waiver from the federal education law in August.

This online resource can be used by the school district to analyze student achievement and set goals for school-wide improvement. Learn more on Methacton's website.

METS ConnECT Program Integrates Technology and Curriculum

METS ConnECT is a student-centered, mobile device pilot project for the 2013-2014 school year.

This 21st century learning experience integrates six iPads per class in a total of 17 classrooms ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade. The data gathered from this pilot will drive future decisions regarding technology tools that enhance student learning. You can follow the project's progress via blog at http://metsconnect.wordpress.com.

This program is an important part of the implementation of new Methacton Educational Technology Standards (METS). These standards provide an opportunity for all students to have regular use of technology to develop skills that encourage personal productivity, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration that starts in the classroom and infuses into their daily lives.
